On 2nd September 1854 Henry Neville 3rd Marquess Abergavenny was born to William Neville 1st Marquess Abergavenny [aged 27] and Caroline Vanden Bempte Johnston Marchioness Abergavenny.

On 17th August 1868 [his grandfather] William Neville 4th Earl Abergavenny [aged 76] died. His son [his father] William [aged 41] succeeded 5th Earl Abergavenny, 5th Viscount Neville, 6th Baron Abergavenny. [his mother] Caroline Vanden Bempte Johnston Marchioness Abergavenny by marriage Countess Abergavenny.

On 12th September 1876 Henry Neville 3rd Marquess Abergavenny [aged 22] and Violet Streatfeild [aged 21] were married. He the son of William Neville 1st Marquess Abergavenny [aged 49] and Caroline Vanden Bempte Johnston Marchioness Abergavenny.

In 1877 [his daughter] Joan Marion Neville Marchioness Camden was born to Henry Neville 3rd Marquess Abergavenny [aged 22] and [his wife] Violet Streatfeild [aged 22]. She married 2nd June 1898 John Pratt 4th Marquess Camden, son of John Charles Pratt 3rd Marquess Camden and Clementina Augusta Spencer-Churchill Countess Camden, and had issue.

In 1879 [his son] Gilbert Reginald Neville was born to Henry Neville 3rd Marquess Abergavenny [aged 24] and [his wife] Violet Streatfeild [aged 24].

In 1879 [his son] Geoffrey Neville died.

In December 1880 Henry Neville 3rd Marquess Abergavenny [aged 26] and Maud Augusta Beckett Dickinson [aged 16] were married. He the son of William Neville 1st Marquess Abergavenny [aged 54] and Caroline Vanden Bempte Johnston Marchioness Abergavenny.

Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses

Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

She married 11th February 1907 her fourth cousin once removed Albert Edward Astley 21st Baron Hastings, son of George Manners Astley 20th Baron Hastings and Elizabeth Evelyn Harbord Baroness Hastings, and had issue.

On 17th December 1889 [his brother-in-law] Henry Arthur Mornington Wellesley 3rd Earl Cowley [aged 23] and [his sister] Violet Neville Countess Cowley [aged 23] were married at St George's Church, Hanover Square. She the daughter of [his father] William Neville 1st Marquess Abergavenny [aged 63] and [his mother] Caroline Vanden Bempte Johnston Marchioness Abergavenny. He the son of William Henry Wellesley 2nd Earl Cowley [aged 55] and Emily Gwendoline Williams Countess Cowley [aged 50].

In 1891 [his son] Gilbert Reginald Neville [aged 12] died.

On 8th July 1891 Henry Charles Hardinge 3rd Viscount Hardinge [aged 33] and [his future wife] Mary Frances Neville Marchioness Abergavenny [aged 22] were married.

On 28th February 1895 William Henry Wellesley 2nd Earl Cowley [aged 60] died at Shute Manor Draycott, Wiltshire. His son [his brother-in-law] Henry [aged 29] succeeded 3rd Earl Cowley, 3rd Viscount Dangan of Meath, 4th Baron Cowley. [his sister] Violet Neville Countess Cowley [aged 28] by marriage Countess Cowley.

On 2nd June 1898 [his son-in-law] John Pratt 4th Marquess Camden [aged 26] and Joan Marion Neville Marchioness Camden [aged 21] were married at St Alban's Church. She by marriage Marchioness Camden. She the daughter of Henry Neville 3rd Marquess Abergavenny [aged 43] and Violet Streatfeild. He the son of John Charles Pratt 3rd Marquess Camden and Clementina Augusta Spencer-Churchill Countess Camden.

On 29th November 1899 [his brother-in-law] Kenelm Charles Pepys 4th Earl of Cottenham [aged 25] and [his sister] Rose Neville Countess Cottentham [aged 32] were married. She by marriage Countess of Cottenham. She the daughter of [his father] William Neville 1st Marquess Abergavenny [aged 73] and [his mother] Caroline Vanden Bempte Johnston Marchioness Abergavenny. He the son of William John Pepys 3rd Earl of Cottenham and Theodesia Selina Dallas Countess Cottenham [aged 54].

On 11th February 1907 [his son-in-law] Albert Edward Astley 21st Baron Hastings [aged 25] and Marguerite Helen Neville Baroness Hastings [aged 20] were married. She by marriage Baroness Hastings. She the daughter of Henry Neville 3rd Marquess Abergavenny [aged 52] and Maud Augusta Beckett Dickinson [aged 42]. They were fourth cousin once removed.

Memoires of Jacques du Clercq

This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

On 15th July 1927 [his wife] Maud Augusta Beckett Dickinson [aged 63] died.

On 13th October 1927 Reginald Neville 2nd Marquess Abergavenny [aged 74] died at Cheadle, Cheshire [Map]. His brother Henry [aged 73] succeeded 3rd Marquess Abergavenny, 7th Earl Abergavenny, 7th Viscount Neville, 3rd Earl Lewes, 8th Baron Abergavenny.

On 18th October 1928 Henry Neville 3rd Marquess Abergavenny [aged 74] and Mary Frances Neville Marchioness Abergavenny [aged 59] were married. She by marriage Marchioness Abergavenny. He the son of William Neville 1st Marquess Abergavenny and Caroline Vanden Bempte Johnston Marchioness Abergavenny. They were first cousins.

On 10th January 1938 Henry Neville 3rd Marquess Abergavenny [aged 83] died. His nephew Guy [aged 54] succeeded 4th Marquess Abergavenny, 8th Earl Abergavenny, 8th Viscount Neville, 4th Earl Lewes. Baron Abergavenny abeyant between [his great grandson] David George Pratt 6th Marquess Camden [aged 7] and Delaval Thomas Harold Astley 23rd Baron Hastings. Isabel "Nellie" Larnach Marchioness Abergavenny [aged 47] by marriage Marchioness Abergavenny.

On 31st October 1954 [his former wife] Mary Frances Neville Marchioness Abergavenny [aged 85] died.
