George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven 1551-1617

Around 1551 George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven was born to Henry Tuchet 10th Baron Audley, 7th Baron Tuchet and Elizabeth Sneyd Baroness Audley Heighley [aged 13].

Before 3rd July 1560 [his grandfather] George Tuchet 9th Baron Audley, 6th Baron Tuchet died. He was buried on 03 Jul 1560 in St Margaret's Church, Westminster [Map]. His son [his father] Henry succeeded 10th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 7th Baron Tuchet. [his mother] Elizabeth Sneyd Baroness Audley Heighley [aged 22] by marriage Baroness Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire.

Before 30th December 1563 [his father] Henry Tuchet 10th Baron Audley, 7th Baron Tuchet and [his mother] Elizabeth Sneyd Baroness Audley Heighley [aged 25] were married.

On 30th December 1563 [his father] Henry Tuchet 10th Baron Audley, 7th Baron Tuchet died. He was buried at Betley, Staffordshire. His son George [aged 12] succeeded 11th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 8th Baron Tuchet.

Around 1580 George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven [aged 29] and Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet were married. She by marriage Baroness Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, Baroness Tuchet.

In 1590 [his daughter] Eleanor Tuchet was born to George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven [aged 39] and [his wife] Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet. She married March 1609 John Davies and had issue.

In 1593 [his son] Mervyn Tuchet 2nd Earl Castlehaven was born to George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven [aged 42] and [his wife] Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet. He married 1. before 1612 Elizabeth Barnham Countess Castlehaven and had issue 2. 22nd July 1624 his sixth cousin Anne Stanley Countess Castlehaven, daughter of Ferdinando Stanley 5th Earl of Derby and Alice Spencer Countess Derby.

In May 1594 [his son-in-law] Thomas Thynne [aged 16] and Mary Tuchet were married. She the daughter of George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven [aged 43] and Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet.

Before 29th August 1600 [his son-in-law] John Stawell of Cothelstone Manor and Elizabeth Tuchet were married. She the daughter of George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven [aged 49] and Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet.

The Huntingdon Peerage Chapter IX Ferdinando Sixth Earl of Huntingdon. [his grandson-in-law] FERDINANDO, sixth Earl of Huntingdon, heir and successor of Henry the fifth Earl [aged 21], was born at Ashby [Map], January 11th, 1608. In March, 1627, he was returned to serve in Parliament for the county of Leicester, and two years after was joined with his father in the Lieutenancy of the counties of Leicester and Rutland. By indenture, dated May, 1638, he and his brother Henry, in consideration of the sum of 4,50l. granted, to John Earl of Bridgewater [aged 29] and Thomas Davies, a moiety of the rectory of Mould, otherwise Mouldesdale, in Flintshire. On the 13th of November, 1641, his father being then still living, he had summons to Parliament amongst the barons of the realm; and in 1643 he succeeded to the family honours. He married [his granddaughter] Lucy, daughter and sole heir to [his future son-in-law] Sir John Davys [aged 38], of Englefield, Berks, Knt. (Premier Serjeant at Law to James the First, and Charles the First, as also Solicitor, and afterwards Attorney General in Ireland, and finally Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench,) by his wife Lady Eleanor [aged 18], youngest daughter of George Lord Audley, Earl of Castlehaven [aged 57], and, settling at Donnington Park, had by her four sons; Henry, John, Ferdinando, and Theophilus, born after the decease of his three brothers; and likewise six daughters, Alice, Eleanor, both of whom died young; Elizabeth, married to Sir James Laughan, of Cottesbroke, in Nottinghamshire, Bart, being his second wife, and dying without issue; Lucy, who died unmarried; Mary, espoused to Sir William Joliffe, of Caverswell Castle in Staffordshire, Knt.; and lastly Christiana.

In March 1609 [his son-in-law] John Davies [aged 39] and Eleanor Tuchet [aged 19] were married. The difference in their ages was 20 years. She the daughter of George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven [aged 58] and Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet.

In December 1609 [his mother] Elizabeth Sneyd Baroness Audley Heighley [aged 71] died.

Before 1612 Mervyn Tuchet 2nd Earl Castlehaven [aged 18] and Elizabeth Barnham Countess Castlehaven [aged 19] were married. He the son of George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven [aged 60] and Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet.

On 20th February 1616 [his wife] Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet died.

After 20th February 1616 George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven [aged 65] and Elizabeth Noel Countess Castlehaven were married at St Mary le Strand Church. She by marriage Baroness Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, Baroness Tuchet.

On 6th September 1616 George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven [aged 65] was created 1st Earl Castlehaven, 1st Baron Audley of Orier in England. [his wife] Elizabeth Noel Countess Castlehaven by marriage Countess Castlehaven.

In 1617 George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven [aged 66] died. His son Mervyn [aged 24] succeeded 2nd Earl Castlehaven, 12th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 9th Baron Tuchet, 2nd Baron Audley of Orier in England. Elizabeth Barnham Countess Castlehaven [aged 25] by marriage Countess Castlehaven.

[his daughter] Christian Tuchet was born to George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven and Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet.

[his daughter] Elizabeth Tuchet was born to George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven and Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet. She married before 29th August 1600 John Stawell of Cothelstone Manor and had issue.
