In 1661 [her father] James Cecil 3rd Earl Salisbury [aged 13] and [her mother] Margaret Manners Countess of Salisbury were married. She the daughter of [her grandfather] John Manners 8th Earl of Rutland [aged 56] and [her grandmother] Frances Montagu Countess Rutland [aged 47]. They were fifth cousin once removed.

On 28th October 1662 [her future husband] Richard Jones 1st Earl Ranelagh [aged 21] and Elizabeth Willoughby Countess Ranelagh [aged 29] were married.

In 1672 Margaret Cecil Countess Ranelagh was born to James Cecil 3rd Earl Salisbury [aged 24] and Margaret Manners Countess of Salisbury.

In 1674 [her future husband] Richard Jones 1st Earl Ranelagh [aged 32] was created 1st Earl Ranelagh. Elizabeth Willoughby Countess Ranelagh [aged 41] by marriage Countess Ranelagh.

In 1682 [her mother] Margaret Manners Countess of Salisbury died.

In 1683 John Stawell 2nd Baron Stawell [aged 14] and Margaret Cecil Countess Ranelagh [aged 11] were married. She the daughter of James Cecil 3rd Earl Salisbury [aged 35] and Margaret Manners Countess of Salisbury.

In June 1683 [her father] James Cecil 3rd Earl Salisbury [aged 35] died. His succeeded son [her brother] James Cecil 4th Earl Salisbury [aged 17] succeeded 4th Earl Salisbury.

On 13th July 1683 [her brother] James Cecil 4th Earl Salisbury [aged 17] and [her sister-in-law] Frances Bennett Countess of Salisbury [aged 12] were married. She by marriage Countess Salisbury. Her father had left his daughters £20,000 in his will, subject to their not marrying before the age of sixteen or without the consent of those he named, with the proviso that the legacy of a daughter doing so was to be reduced to £10,000. Frances Bennett married Salisbury before she was sixteen, but with the consent of the Executors to the will, and this later led to litigation. He the son of James Cecil 3rd Earl Salisbury and Margaret Manners Countess of Salisbury.

On 8th August 1689 [her father-in-law] Ralph Stawell 1st Baron Stawell [aged 48] died at Low Ham, Somerset. His succeeded son [her husband] John Stawell 2nd Baron Stawell [aged 20] succeeded 2nd Baron Stawell of Somerton in Somerset. Margaret Cecil Countess Ranelagh [aged 17] by marriage Baroness Stawell of Somerton in Somerset.

The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

On 30th November 1692 [her husband] John Stawell 2nd Baron Stawell [aged 23] died. His succeeded half brother [her brother-in-law] William Stawell 3rd Baron Stawell [aged 10] succeeded 3rd Baron Stawell of Somerton in Somerset.

In 1694 [her brother] James Cecil 4th Earl Salisbury [aged 28] died. His succeeded son [her nephew] James Cecil 5th Earl Salisbury [aged 2] succeeded 5th Earl Salisbury. Anne Tufton Countess of Salisbury by marriage Countess Salisbury.

On 9th January 1696 Richard Jones 1st Earl Ranelagh [aged 54] and Margaret Cecil Countess Ranelagh [aged 24] were married. She by marriage Countess Ranelagh. The difference in their ages was 30 years. She the daughter of James Cecil 3rd Earl Salisbury and Margaret Manners Countess of Salisbury.

On 23rd April 1698 Thomas Coningsby 1st Earl Coningsby [aged 41] and [her step-daughter] Frances Jones [aged 25] were married. She the daughter of [her husband] Richard Jones 1st Earl Ranelagh [aged 57] and Elizabeth Willoughby Countess Ranelagh. They were second cousins.

On 5th January 1712 [her husband] Richard Jones 1st Earl Ranelagh [aged 70] died. His daughter [her step-daughter] Catherine Jones [aged 40] inherited Ranelagh House.

On 21st February 1728 Margaret Cecil Countess Ranelagh [aged 56] died.
