William of Worcester's Chronicle of England

William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 5th October 1871 Charles Henry Wilson 1st Baron Nunburnholme [aged 38] and Florence Jane Helen Wellesley Baroness Nunburnholme [aged 18] were married.

On 19th May 1877 [her son] Guy Greville Wilson was born to Charles Henry Wilson 1st Baron Nunburnholme [aged 44] and Florence Jane Helen Wellesley Baroness Nunburnholme [aged 24]. He married 1. 23rd June 1904 Isabel Innes-Kerr, daughter of James Henry Robert Innes-Kerr 7th Duke Roxburghe and Anne Emily Spencer-Churchill Duchess Roxburghe 2. 22nd May 1911 Avery Buxton and had issue.

1887. Edward Robert Hughes [aged 35]. "Portrait of a Lady". Possibly Florence Jane Helen Wellesley Baroness Nunburnholme [aged 34].

On 14th November 1888 [her father] William Henry Charles Wellesley [aged 75] died.

On 10th June 1895 [her son-in-law] Charles Edward Cradock-Hartopp 5th Baronet [aged 37] and Millicent Wilson [aged 22] were married. She by marriage Lady Cradock-Hartopp.

On 15th February 1900 Edwyn Scudamore Stanhope 10th Earl of Chesterfield [aged 45] and [her daughter] Enid Edith Wilson Countess Chesterfield [aged 21] were married at St Mark's Church North Audley Street. She by marriage Countess Chesterfield. They initially lived at Holme Lacy House, Herefordshire [Map]. The difference in their ages was 24 years. He the son of Henry Edwyn Chandos Scudamore Stanhope 9th Earl of Chesterfield and Dorothea Hay Countess Chesterfield [aged 72].

On 12th February 1901 [her son] Charles Henry Wellesley Wilson 2nd Baron Nunburnholme [aged 26] and [her daughter-in-law] Marjorie Cecilia Wynn-Carington Baroness Willoughby of Parham [aged 21] were married. She the daughter of Charles Robert Wynn-Carington 1st Marquess of Lincolnshire [aged 57] and Cecilia Margaret Harbord Marchioness [aged 44].

On 23rd June 1904 [her son] Guy Greville Wilson [aged 27] and [her daughter-in-law] Isabel Innes-Kerr [aged 25] were married. She the daughter of James Henry Robert Innes-Kerr 7th Duke Roxburghe and Anne Emily Spencer-Churchill Duchess Roxburghe [aged 49].

On 3rd August 1905 [her son-in-law] Eric Chaplin 2nd Viscount Chaplin [aged 27] and [her daughter] Gwladys Alice Wilson Viscountess Chaplin [aged 24] were married at Warter Hall aka Priory [Map].

On 14th December 1905 Henry Arthur Mornington Wellesley 3rd Earl Cowley [aged 39] and [her daughter] Millicent Florence Eleanor Wilson Countess Cowley [aged 33] were married at Colombo, Sri Lanka. She by marriage Countess Cowley. He the son of William Henry Wellesley 2nd Earl Cowley and Emily Gwendoline Williams Countess Cowley [aged 66]. They were third cousins.

After 1908. St James' Church Warter [Map]. Monument to [her son] Gerald Valerian Wilson [aged 22]. Sculpted by George Frampton [aged 47]. Erected by his mother Florence Jane Helen Wellesley Baroness Nunburnholme [aged 55].

Gerald Valerian Wilson: On 31st January 1885 he was born to Charles Henry Wilson 1st Baron Nunburnholme and Florence Jane Helen Wellesley Baroness Nunburnholme. On 27th September 1908 he died.

On 27th September 1908 [her son] Gerald Valerian Wilson [aged 23] died.

On 22nd May 1911 [her son] Guy Greville Wilson [aged 34] and [her daughter-in-law] Avery Buxton were married.

In 1913 Henry Arthur Mornington Wellesley 3rd Earl Cowley [aged 46] and [her daughter] Millicent Florence Eleanor Wilson Countess Cowley [aged 40] were divorced. She cited "his desertion and misconduct with Mrs. Geoffrey Charles Buxton". Henry Arthur Mornington Wellesley 3rd Earl Cowley had been named as a correspondent in the divorce suite of Geoffrey Charles Buxton against his wife.

On 15th August 1924 Charles Henry Wellesley Wilson 2nd Baron Nunburnholme [aged 49] died. His son Charles [aged 20] succeeded 3rd Baron Nunburnholme.

On 8th December 1932 Florence Jane Helen Wellesley Baroness Nunburnholme [aged 79] died.
