In or before 1665 [his father] Richard Southwell of Castle Matrix and [his mother] Elizabeth O'Brien were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Murdough O'Brien 1st Earl Inchiquin [aged 50] and [his grandmother] Elizabeth St Leger Countess Inchiquin.
In 1665 Thomas Southwell 1st Baron Southwell was born to Richard Southwell of Castle Matrix and Elizabeth O'Brien.
On 7th December 1680 [his grandfather] Thomas Southwell 1st Baronet [aged 70] died. His grandson Thomas [aged 15] succeeded 2nd Baronet Southwell of Castle Matress.
In September 1688 Richard Southwell of Castle Matrix died. The date inconsistent with his having predeceased his father since his younger brother succeeded?.
In 1695 Thomas Southwell 1st Baron Southwell [aged 30] was elected MP County Limerick which seat he held until 1713. He was returned for the constituency again from 1715 until August 1717 when he was created Baron Southwell.
On 8th August 1695 Thomas Southwell 1st Baron Southwell [aged 30] and Meliora Coningsby [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of Thomas Coningsby 1st Earl Coningsby [aged 38] and Barbara Gorges [aged 38].
On 7th January 1698 [his son] Thomas Southwell 2nd Baron Southwell was born to Thomas Southwell 1st Baron Southwell [aged 33] and [his wife] Meliora Coningsby [aged 22]. He married March 1719 Mary Coke Baroness Southwell and had issue.
On 23rd March 1713 [his son] Bowen Southwell was born to Thomas Southwell 1st Baron Southwell [aged 48] and [his wife] Meliora Coningsby [aged 37]. He married July 1753 Elizabeth Cornwallis, daughter of Charles Cornwallis 1st Earl Cornwallis and Elizabeth Townshend Countess Cornwallis.
In August 1717 Thomas Southwell 1st Baron Southwell [aged 52] was created 1st Baron Southwell of Castle Mattress in Limerick.
In March 1719 [his son] Thomas Southwell 2nd Baron Southwell [aged 21] and [his daughter-in-law] Mary Coke Baroness Southwell were married.
On 30th April 1719 [his father-in-law] Thomas Coningsby 1st Earl Coningsby [aged 62] was created 1st Earl Coningsbury with a special remainder to the eldest daughter of his second marriage [his sister-in-law] Margaret Coningsby 2nd Countess Coningsby [aged 10].
On 23rd January 1720 Thomas Southwell 1st Baron Southwell [aged 55] died. His son Thomas [aged 22] succeeded 2nd Baron Southwell of Castle Mattress in Limerick, 3rd Baronet Southwell of Castle Matress. Mary Coke Baroness Southwell by marriage Baroness Southwell of Castle Mattress in Limerick.
On 22nd October 1736 [his former wife] Meliora Coningsby [aged 61] died.
[his son] Richard Southwell was born to Thomas Southwell 1st Baron Southwell and Meliora Coningsby.
