On 28th April 1642 [his father] Francis Newport 1st Earl Bradford [aged 22] and [his mother] Diana Russell Countess Bradford were married at St Giles' in the Fields Church [Map]. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Francis Russell 4th Earl Bedford and [his grandmother] Catherine Brydges Countess Bedford [aged 62].

Around 1655 Thomas Newport 1st Baron Torrington was born to Francis Newport 1st Earl Bradford [aged 34] and Diana Russell Countess Bradford at High Ercall, Shropshire.

On 21st May 1672 Thomas Newport 1st Baron Torrington [aged 17] was educated at Christ Church College, Oxford University.

On 20th April 1681 [his brother] Richard Newport 2nd Earl Bradford [aged 36] and [his sister-in-law] Mary Wilbraham Countess Bradford [aged 19] were married. He the son of [his father] Francis Newport 1st Earl Bradford [aged 61] and [his mother] Diana Russell Countess Bradford.

In 1687 Thomas Newport 1st Baron Torrington [aged 32] called to the bar at Inner Temple.

On 11th May 1694 [his father] Francis Newport 1st Earl Bradford [aged 74] was created 1st Earl Bradford. [his mother] Diana Russell Countess Bradford by marriage Countess Bradford.

In 1695 Thomas Newport 1st Baron Torrington [aged 40] was elected MP Ludlow.

On 30th January 1695 [his mother] Diana Russell Countess Bradford died.

The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

Before 1696 Thomas Newport 1st Baron Torrington [aged 40] and Lucy Atkyns were married. He the son of Francis Newport 1st Earl Bradford [aged 75] and Diana Russell Countess Bradford.

In 1696 [his wife] Lucy Atkyns died.

On 22nd July 1700 Thomas Newport 1st Baron Torrington [aged 45] and Penelope Bridgeman were married at Chelsea. He the son of Francis Newport 1st Earl Bradford [aged 80] and Diana Russell Countess Bradford.

In January 1701 Thomas Newport 1st Baron Torrington [aged 46] was elected MP Winchelsea but irregularities in the vote resulted in the Mayor being imprisoned and the election declared void on 27 Feb 1701.

In 1705 [his wife] Penelope Bridgeman died.

On 19th September 1708 [his father] Francis Newport 1st Earl Bradford [aged 88] died at Twickenham, Richmond. His son [his brother] Richard [aged 64] succeeded 2nd Earl Bradford, 2nd Viscount Newport of Bradford in Shropshire, 3rd Baron Newport of High Ercall in Shropshire. [his sister-in-law] Mary Wilbraham Countess Bradford [aged 47] by marriage Countess Bradford.

On 8th July 1709 Thomas Newport 1st Baron Torrington [aged 54] and Anne Pierrepont Baroness Torrington were married. He the son of Francis Newport 1st Earl Bradford and Diana Russell Countess Bradford.

On 30th March 1716 Thomas Newport 1st Baron Torrington [aged 61] was appointed Privy Council.

On 20th June 1716 Thomas Newport 1st Baron Torrington [aged 61] was created 1st Baron Torrington of Torrington in Devon. [his wife] Anne Pierrepont Baroness Torrington by marriage Baroness Torrington of Torrington in Devon.

On 27th May 1719 Thomas Newport 1st Baron Torrington [aged 64] died without issue. Baron Torrington of Torrington in Devon extinct. He was buried at Wroxeter, Shropshire [Map].
