Paternal Family Tree: Stapleton of the Leeward Islands
On 27th November 1765 [his father] Thomas Stapleton 5th Baronet [aged 38] and [his mother] Mary Fane Lady Stapleton [aged 21] were married. She by marriage Lady Stapleton of Leeward Islands. They were fourth cousins.
On 10th November 1766 Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer was born to Thomas Stapleton 5th Baronet [aged 39] and Mary Fane Lady Stapleton [aged 22].
In 1781 [his father] Thomas Stapleton 5th Baronet [aged 54] died. His son Thomas [aged 14] succeeded 6th Baronet Stapleton of Leeward Islands.
On 11th December 1781 Francis Dashwood 11th Baron Despencer [aged 73] died without legitimate issue. Baron Despencer abeyant between his sister, Rachel Dashwood [aged 75], and the descendants of his aunt, Catherine Fane. When his sister died without issue in 1788 the barony was called out of abeyance in favour of Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer [aged 15], the only surviving descendant of his aunt. His half brother John [aged 65] succeeded 3rd Baronet Dashwood of West Wycombe in Buckinghamshire.
In 1788 Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer [aged 21] abeyance terminated 12th Baron Despencer.
On 29th July 1791 Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer [aged 24] and Elizabeth Eliot Baroness Despencer [aged 33] were married. She by marriage Baroness Despencer.
On 24th April 1792 [his son] Thomas Stapleton was born to Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer [aged 25] and [his wife] Elizabeth Eliot Baroness Despencer [aged 34]. He married 2nd February 1816 Frances Woodley and had issue.
On 21st March 1801 [his son] Reverend Miles Stapleton was born to Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer [aged 34] and [his wife] Elizabeth Eliot Baroness Despencer [aged 43]. He married 29th December 1820 Anne Byam Kerby and had issue.
In or before 1804 [his daughter] Emily Stapleton was born to Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer [aged 37] and [his wife] Elizabeth Eliot Baroness Despencer [aged 45]. She married 25th November 1817 Hercules Robert Pakenham, son of Edward Pakenham 2nd Baron Longford and Catherine Rowley Baroness Longford, and had issue.
On 15th April 1805 [his daughter] Anna Frances Esther Stapleton was born to Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer [aged 38] and [his wife] Elizabeth Eliot Baroness Despencer [aged 47]. She married 3rd December 1828 Henry Maxwell 7th Baron Farnham.
On 6th August 1807 [his son] Francis Jarvis Stapleton 7th Baronet was born to Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer [aged 40] and [his wife] Elizabeth Eliot Baroness Despencer [aged 49].
Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes
Récits d’un bourgeois de Valenciennes aka The Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes is a vivid 14th-century vernacular chronicle written by an anonymous urban chronicler from Valenciennes in the County of Hainaut. On 1st June 1829 [his son] Thomas Stapleton [aged 37] died.
On 11th June 1830 [his son] Reverend Miles Stapleton [aged 29] died.
On 3rd October 1831 Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer [aged 64] died. His granddaughter Mary [aged 9] succeeded 13th Baroness Despencer. His son Francis [aged 24] succeeded 7th Baronet Stapleton of Leeward Islands.
In 1848 [his former wife] Elizabeth Eliot Baroness Despencer [aged 90] died.
[his daughter] Emma Stapleton was born to Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer and Elizabeth Eliot Baroness Despencer. She married 5th May 1825 Charles Brodrick 6th Viscount Midleton and had issue.
[his daughter] Maria Frances Catherine Stapleton Countess Roden was born to Thomas Stapleton 12th Baron Despencer and Elizabeth Eliot Baroness Despencer. She married 9th January 1813 Robert Jocelyn 3rd Earl Roden, son of Robert Jocelyn 2nd Earl Roden, and had issue.
