On 12th October 1853 [his brother-in-law] Dudley Fitzgerald De Ros 23rd Baron Ros Helmsley [aged 26] and [his sister] Elizabeth Egerton Baroness Ros of Helmsley [aged 21] were married at Heaton, Lancashire. She the daughter of [his father] Thomas Grosvenor 2nd Earl Wilton [aged 53] and [his mother] Mary Smith-Stanley Countess Wilton [aged 52].

On 11th August 1858 Arthur Egerton 3rd Earl Wilton [aged 25] and Elizabeth Charlotte Louisa Craven Countess Wilton [aged 22] were married. There was no issue from the marriage. She the daughter of William Craven 2nd Earl Craven [aged 48] and Emily Mary Grimston Countess Craven [aged 42]. He the son of Thomas Grosvenor 2nd Earl Wilton [aged 58] and Mary Smith-Stanley Countess Wilton [aged 57].

In December 1858 [his mother] Mary Smith-Stanley Countess Wilton [aged 57] died.

In 1859 Arthur Egerton 3rd Earl Wilton [aged 26] was elected MP Weymouth which seat he held until 1869.

On 9th August 1862 [his brother] Seymour Egerton 4th Earl Wilton [aged 23] and [his sister-in-law] Laura Caroline Russell Countess Wilton [aged 20] were married. He the son of [his father] Thomas Grosvenor 2nd Earl Wilton [aged 62] and [his mother] Mary Smith-Stanley Countess Wilton.

On 12th September 1863 [his father] Thomas Grosvenor 2nd Earl Wilton [aged 63] and [his step-mother] Susan Isabel Elton Smith Countess Wilton [aged 21] were married. She by marriage Countess Wilton. Abbot John Whethamstede’s Chronicle of the Abbey of St Albans

Abbot John Whethamstede's Register aka Chronicle of his second term at the Abbey of St Albans, 1451-1461, is a remarkable text that describes his first-hand experience of the beginning of the Wars of the Roses including the First and Second Battles of St Albans, 1455 and 1461, respectively, their cause, and their consequences, not least on the Abbey itself. His text also includes Loveday, Blore Heath, Northampton, the Act of Accord, Wakefield, and Towton, and ends with the Coronation of King Edward IV. In addition to the events of the Wars of the Roses, Abbot John, or his scribes who wrote the Chronicle, include details in the life of the Abbey such as charters, letters, land exchanges, visits by legates, and disputes, which provide a rich insight into the day-to-day life of the Abbey, and the challenges faced by its Abbot.

The Times. 25th January 1865. MARRIAGE IN HIGH LIFE. The marriage of the Earl of Coventry [aged 26] and [his sister-in-law] Lady Blanche Craven [aged 22], third daughter of [his father-in-law] Earl Craven [aged 55], was solemnized yesterday morning at St. George's Church, Hanover-square. The bridegroom and the friends of both families assembled at the church at 11 o'clock, and shortly afterwards were joined by the bride, accompanied by her [his mother-in-law] mother, the Countess Craven [aged 48]. The Hon. and Rev. Edward Grimston [aged 52], uncle of the bride, performed the religious rite. After the registration of the marriage the wedding party left the church, and procceded to the Earl and Countess Craven's mansion in Charles-street, Mayfair. At 2 o'clock the newly-wedded couple took their departure for Croome Court, the Earl of Coventry's seat, near Upton-upon-Severn, Worcestershire [Map], there to pass the honeymoon. At Croome Pirton and Severn Stoke, Worcestershire, the marriage was celebrated yesterday by the tenantry and neighbours of the Earl of Coventry. The tenantry of the Crome Pirton and Severn Stoke estates, to ths number of about 100, dined together in two parties yesterday at Severn Stoke and High-green. At Pirton and Severn Stoke garlands of evergreens and flags were hung out over the roads, and at night a bonfire was lighted at High-green. The rejoicings have extended over all his Lordship's large estates in the southern portion of Worcestershire. The inhabitants of Worcester [Map] celebrated the marriage by hoisting flags from tile windows and streamers across the streets. The bells from the various churches rang merry peals all day.

On 25th August 1866 [his father-in-law] William Craven 2nd Earl Craven [aged 57] died. His son [his brother-in-law] George [aged 25] succeeded 3rd Earl Craven in Yorkshire, 3rd Viscount Uffington, 9th Baron Craven of Hamstead Marshall in Berkshire.

On 2nd January 1867 [his brother-in-law] George Grimston Craven 3rd Earl Craven [aged 25] and Evelyn Laura Barrington Countess Craven [aged 18] were married. She by marriage Countess Craven in Yorkshire. He the son of [his father-in-law] William Craven 2nd Earl Craven and [his mother-in-law] Emily Mary Grimston Countess Craven [aged 50]. They were fifth cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

In 1873 Arthur Egerton 3rd Earl Wilton [aged 40] was elected MP Bath which seat he held until 1874.

On 8th June 1873 Henry Cadogan 4th Earl Cadogan [aged 61] died at Woodrising, Norfolk. His son George [aged 33] succeeded 5th Earl Cadogan, 5th Viscount Chelsea, 7th Baron Cadogan. [his sister-in-law] Beatrix Jane Craven Countess Cadogan [aged 28] by marriage Countess Cadogan.

On 6th January 1874 William Fitzgerald De Ros 22nd Baron Ros Helmsley [aged 76] died at Old Court, Strangford, County Down. His son [his brother-in-law] Dudley [aged 46] succeeded 23rd Baron Ros Helmsley. [his sister] Elizabeth Egerton Baroness Ros of Helmsley [aged 41] by marriage Baroness Ros Helmsley.

In 1875 Arthur Egerton 3rd Earl Wilton [aged 42] was created 1st Baron Grey de Radclyffe in Lancashire.

On 7th March 1882 [his father] Thomas Grosvenor 2nd Earl Wilton [aged 82] died. His son Arthur [aged 49] succeeded 3rd Earl Wilton, 3rd Viscount Grey de Wilton. [his wife] Elizabeth Charlotte Louisa Craven Countess Wilton [aged 45] by marriage Countess Wilton.

On 7th December 1883 [his brother-in-law] George Grimston Craven 3rd Earl Craven [aged 42] died. His son William [aged 14] succeeded 4th Earl Craven in Yorkshire, 4th Viscount Uffington, 10th Baron Craven of Hamstead Marshall in Berkshire.

On 18th January 1885 Arthur Egerton 3rd Earl Wilton [aged 52] died. His brother Seymour [aged 45] succeeded 4th Earl Wilton, 4th Viscount Grey de Wilton. Laura Caroline Russell Countess Wilton [aged 43] by marriage Countess Wilton. Baron Grey de Radclyffe in Lancashire extinct.

On 14th September 1886 Arthur Vickris Pryor [aged 40] and [his former wife] Elizabeth Charlotte Louisa Craven Countess Wilton [aged 50] were married. She the daughter of [his former father-in-law] William Craven 2nd Earl Craven and [his former mother-in-law] Emily Mary Grimston Countess Craven [aged 70].

Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes
