Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe 1726-1799

On 8th August 1719 [his father] Emanuel Howe 2nd Viscount Howe [aged 19] and [his mother] Sophia Von Keilmansegg Viscountess Howe [aged 15] were married. She by marriage Viscountess Howe.

On 8th March 1726 Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe was born to Emanuel Howe 2nd Viscount Howe [aged 26] and Sophia Von Keilmansegg Viscountess Howe [aged 22] at Albermarle Street.

In 1735 [his father] Emanuel Howe 2nd Viscount Howe [aged 35] died. His son [his brother] George [aged 10] succeeded 3rd Viscount Howe, 3rd Baron Glenawley.

On 10th March 1758 Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe [aged 32] and Mary Hartop were married.

On 6th July 1758 George Howe 3rd Viscount Howe [aged 33] was killed at Fort Carillon Ticonderoga, Essex County New York State at the Battle of Carillon. His brother Richard [aged 32] succeeded 4th Viscount Howe, 4th Baron Glenawley.

In 1765 [his brother] William Howe 5th Viscount Howe [aged 35] and [his sister-in-law] Frances Conolly Viscountess Howe were married. There was no issue from the marriage.

On 9th December 1767 [his daughter] Louisa Catharine Howe was born to Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe [aged 41] and [his wife] Mary Hartop. She married 1. 1787 John Denis Browne 1st Marquess of Sligo and had issue 2. 1813 William Scott 1st Baron Stowell.

In 1782 Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe [aged 55] was created 1st Viscount Howe.

On 13th June 1782 [his mother] Sophia Von Keilmansegg Viscountess Howe [aged 78] died.

In 1787 [his son-in-law] John Denis Browne 1st Marquess of Sligo [aged 30] and Louisa Catharine Howe [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe [aged 60] and Mary Hartop.

In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness. On 22nd July 1788 Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe [aged 62] was created 1st Earl Howe, 1st Baron Howe. The Baroney was created with a special remainder to his daughter Sophia Howe 2nd Baroness Howe.

In 1797 Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe [aged 70] was appointed 620th Knight of the Garter by King George III of Great Britain and Ireland [aged 58].

On 5th August 1799 Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe [aged 73] died. Earl Howe, Viscount Howe extinct. His daughter Sophia succeeded 2nd Baroness Howe. His brother William [aged 69] succeeded 5th Viscount Howe, 5th Baron Glenawley. Frances Conolly Viscountess Howe by marriage Viscountess Howe.

[his daughter] Sophia Howe 2nd Baroness Howe was born to Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe and Mary Hartop. She married 1. Penn Curzon, son of Assheton Curzon 1st Viscount Curzon and Esther Hanmer Baroness Curzon, and had issue 2. 1812 Jonathan Wathen Phipps aka Waller 1st Baronet.
