On 25th July 1848 Arthur James Balfour 1st Earl Balfour was born to James Maitland Balfour [aged 28] and Blanche Mary Harriet Gascoyne-Cecil [aged 23].
On 23rd February 1856 [his father] James Maitland Balfour [aged 36] died.
On 16th May 1872 [his mother] Blanche Mary Harriet Gascoyne-Cecil [aged 47] died.
On 21st December 1887 [his brother] Gerald Balfour 2nd Earl of Balfour [aged 34] and [his sister-in-law] Elizabeth Bulwer-Lytton Countess Balfour [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of Edward Robert Bulwer-Lytton 1st Earl [aged 56] and Edith Villiers Countess Lytton [aged 46]. They were sixth cousins.

The True Chronicles of Jean le Bel offer one of the most vivid and immediate accounts of 14th-century Europe, written by a knight who lived through the events he describes, and experienced some of them first hand. This translation builds on the 1905 edition published in French by Jules Viard, adding extensive translations from other sources Rymer's Fœdera, the Chronicles of Adam Murimuth, William Nangis, Walter of Guisborough, a Bourgeois of Valenciennes, Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke and Richard Lescot to enrich the original text and Viard's notes.
