Derek William George Keppel 1863-1944

On 15th November 1855 [his father] William Keppel 7th Earl Albermarle [aged 23] and [his mother] Sophia Mary MacNab of Dundurn Castle [aged 23] were married at Dundurn Castle. He the son of [his grandfather] George Thomas Keppel 6th Earl Albermarle [aged 56].

On 7th April 1863 Derek William George Keppel was born to William Keppel 7th Earl Albermarle [aged 30] and Sophia Mary MacNab of Dundurn Castle [aged 30].

In 1881 [his brother] Arnold Keppel 8th Earl Albermarle [aged 22] and [his sister-in-law] Gertrude Egerton Countess Albemarle [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of Wilbraham Egerton 1st Earl Egerton [aged 48] and Mary Amherst Baroness Egerton [aged 43]. He the son of [his father] William Keppel 7th Earl Albermarle [aged 48] and [his mother] Sophia Mary MacNab of Dundurn Castle [aged 48].

On 21st February 1891 [his grandfather] George Thomas Keppel 6th Earl Albermarle [aged 91] died. His son [his father] William [aged 58] succeeded 7th Earl Albermarle, 7th Viscount Bury in Lancashire, 7th Baron Ashford of Ashford in Kent.

In 1893 Derek William George Keppel [aged 29] was appointed Equerry to the Duke of York [aged 27].

On 28th August 1894 [his father] William Keppel 7th Earl Albermarle [aged 62] died. His son [his brother] Arnold [aged 36] succeeded 8th Earl Albermarle, 8th Viscount Bury in Lancashire, 8th Baron Ashford of Ashford in Kent. [his sister-in-law] Gertrude Egerton Countess Albemarle [aged 33] by marriage Countess Albemarle.

On 20th June 1898 Derek William George Keppel [aged 35] and Bridget Louisa Harbord [aged 27] were married. He the son of William Keppel 7th Earl Albermarle and Sophia Mary MacNab of Dundurn Castle [aged 65].

In 1901 Derek William George Keppel [aged 37] was appointed Equerry to the Prince of Wales [aged 35].

On 24th June 1902 [his brother-in-law] William Henry Dudley Boyle 12th Earl Cork [aged 28] and [his sister] Florence Cecilia Keppel Countess Cork [aged 31] were married. She the daughter of [his father] William Keppel 7th Earl Albermarle and [his mother] Sophia Mary MacNab of Dundurn Castle [aged 69]. They were fifth cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

Their Majesties the King [aged 65] and Queen [aged 62], attended by the Countess of Gosford [aged 51], the Hon. Charlotte Knollys [aged 72], Captain the Hon. Seymour Fortescue, R.N [aged 50], and Major F. Ponsonby, left the Palace this morning for the British Embassy, Paris.

Her Royal Highness the Princess Victoria [aged 38] accompanied Their Majesties to Calais [Map], and proceeded to Christiania on a visit to Their Majesties the King [aged 34] and Queen of Norway [aged 37].

Lady Eva Dugdale and Colonel Sir Henry Knollys [aged 66] (Comptroller and Private Secretary to Her Majesty the Queen of Norway were in attendance upon Her Royal Highness. The King and Queen are travelling u the Duke and Duchess of Lancaster. The Countess of Gosford has succeeded Lady Alice Stanley as Lady in Waiting to Her Majesty.

The Prince of Wales [aged 41], accompanied by Prince Edward of Wales [aged 12], was present at Victoria Station, and took leave of the King and Queen on Their Majesties' departure for Paris. The Hon. Derek Keppel [aged 43] was in attendance.

In 1912 Charles Robert Wynn-Carington 1st Marquess of Lincolnshire [aged 68] was created 1st Marquess of Lincolnshire. [his sister-in-law] Cecilia Margaret Harbord Marchioness [aged 55] by marriage Marchioness of Lincolnshire.

On 5th April 1917 [his mother] Sophia Mary MacNab of Dundurn Castle [aged 84] died.

On 6th October 1934 [his sister-in-law] Cecilia Margaret Harbord Marchioness [aged 78] died.

On 13th October 1934 Robert Boyle 11th Earl Cork [aged 69] died without issue. His second cousin [his brother-in-law] William [aged 60] succeeded 12th Earl Cork. [his sister] Florence Cecilia Keppel Countess Cork [aged 63] by marriage Countess Cork.

On 12th April 1942 [his brother] Arnold Keppel 8th Earl Albermarle [aged 83] died at Quidenham, Norfolk. His son [his nephew] Walter [aged 60] succeeded 9th Earl Albermarle, 9th Viscount Bury in Lancashire, 9th Baron Ashford of Ashford in Kent. Diana Grove Countess of Albermarle [aged 32] by marriage Countess Albermarle.

On 26th April 1944 Derek William George Keppel [aged 81] died.

On 24th September 1951 [his former wife] Bridget Louisa Harbord [aged 80] died.
