Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough
A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

Before 13th February 1718 George Brydges Rodney 1st Baron Rodney was born to Henry Rodney [aged 37].
On 13th February 1718 George Brydges Rodney 1st Baron Rodney was baptised at St Giles' in the Fields Church [Map].
In 1737 [his father] Henry Rodney [aged 56] died.
In 1753 George Brydges Rodney 1st Baron Rodney [aged 34] and Jane Compton [aged 22] were married.
On 25th December 1753 [his son] George Rodney 2nd Baron Rodney was born to George Brydges Rodney 1st Baron Rodney [aged 35] and [his wife] Jane Compton [aged 23]. He married 1781 Anne Harley Baroness Rodney and had issue.
In January 1757 [his wife] Jane Compton [aged 26] died.
In 1764 George Brydges Rodney 1st Baron Rodney [aged 45] and Henrietta Clies Baroness Rodney [aged 25] were married. The difference in their ages was 20 years.
On 10th May 1765 [his son] John Rodney was born to George Brydges Rodney 1st Baron Rodney [aged 47]. He married 19th October 1799 Louisa Martha Stratford, daughter of John Stratford 3rd Earl Aldborough and Elizabeth Hamilton Countess Aldborough.
On 15th February 1780 Admiral Joseph Sydney Yorke [aged 11] joined the Royal Navy becoming a midshipman aboard HMS Duke commanded by Sir Charles Douglas. He followed Douglas to his next command HMS Formidable under George Brydges Rodney 1st Baron Rodney [aged 62].
Before 24th May 1780 [his daughter] Sarah Rodney was born to George Brydges Rodney 1st Baron Rodney [aged 62] and [his wife] Henrietta Clies Baroness Rodney [aged 41]. She married 26th November 1801 Major-General Godfrey Basil Mundy and had issue.
In 1781 [his son] George Rodney 2nd Baron Rodney [aged 27] and [his daughter-in-law] Anne Harley Baroness Rodney [aged 21] were married. Her father Thomas Harley [aged 50] gave them Berrington Hall as a wedding gift.

On 19th June 1782 George Brydges Rodney 1st Baron Rodney [aged 64] was created 1st Baron Rodney of Rodney Stoke in Somerset. [his wife] Henrietta Clies Baroness Rodney [aged 43] by marriage Baroness Rodney of Rodney Stoke in Somerset.
On 24th May 1792 George Brydges Rodney 1st Baron Rodney [aged 74] died. His son George [aged 38] succeeded 2nd Baron Rodney of Rodney Stoke in Somerset. Anne Harley Baroness Rodney [aged 32] by marriage Baroness Rodney of Rodney Stoke in Somerset.
In March 1829 [his former wife] Henrietta Clies Baroness Rodney [aged 90] died.
