Marriage of Henry III and Eleanor of Provence

On 14th January 1236 [her father] King Henry III of England (age 28) and [her mother] Eleanor of Provence Queen Consort England (age 13) were married at Canterbury Cathedral [Map] by Archbishop Edmund Rich (age 61). She the daughter of [her grandfather] Raymond Berenguer Provence IV Count Provence (age 38) and [her grandmother] Beatrice Savoy Countess Provence (age 38). He the son of [her grandfather] King John of England and [her grandmother] Isabella of Angoulême Queen Consort England (age 48). They were fourth cousins.

On 29th September 1240 Margaret Queen of Scotland was born to [her father] King Henry III of England (age 32) and [her mother] Eleanor of Provence Queen Consort England (age 17) at Windsor Castle [Map].

On 27th June 1241 Gilbert Marshal 4th Earl Pembroke (age 44) was killed in a tournament at Ware, Hertfordshire [Map]. He was buried at Temple Church, London [Map] next to his father. His brother Walter (age 42) succeeded 5th Earl Pembroke; he had also attended the tournament. The King [her father] King Henry III of England (age 33) had expressly forbidden the tournament leading to anger at his disobeying the King's orders.

On 6th July 1249 King Alexander II of Scotland (age 50) died at Kerrera. He was buried at Melrose Abbey, Melrose. His son [her future husband] Alexander (age 7) succeeded King Scotland.

On 13th July 1249 [her future husband] King Alexander III of Scotland (age 7) was crowned III King Scotland at Scone Abbey [Map].

On 25 or 26th December 1251 King Alexander III of Scotland (age 10) and Margaret Queen of Scotland (age 11) were married at York Minster [Map]. She by marriage Queen Consort Scotland. The couple remained in York until Jan 1252 after which they travelled to Edinburgh. She the daughter of King Henry III of England (age 44) and Eleanor of Provence Queen Consort England (age 28). He the son of King Alexander II of Scotland and Marie Coucy (age 33). They were half fourth cousins. He a great x 3 grandson of King Henry I "Beauclerc" England.

1254 Wedding of Edward I and Eleanor of Castile

On 1st November 1254 [her brother] King Edward I of England (age 15) and [her sister-in-law] Eleanor of Castile Queen Consort England (age 13) were married at Abbey of Santa Maria la Real de Huelgas [Map]. She the daughter of Ferdinand III King Castile III King Leon and Joan Dammartin Queen Consort Castile and Leon (age 34). He the son of [her father] King Henry III of England (age 47) and [her mother] Eleanor of Provence Queen Consort England (age 31). They were second cousin once removed. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

Liber de Antiquis Legibus 1255. 15th August 1255. In the same year, the [her husband] King of Scotland (age 13) and his Queen (age 14), daughter of the King of England, came into England, and, on the Assumption of Saint Mary [15 August] were with his lordship the King at Wudestok [Map]; upon which day, the said King held a great and most noble Court, nearly all his Earls and Barons being present.

Liber de Antiquis Legibus 1255. 29th August 1255. After this, on the Sunday before the Decollation of Saint John [29 August] the [her husband] King of Scotland (age 13) and his Queen (age 14) came to London, the City being decorated and hung with tapestry.

On 28th February 1261 [her daughter] Margaret Dunkeld Queen Consort Norway was born to [her husband] King Alexander III of Scotland (age 19) and Margaret Queen of Scotland (age 20). She a granddaughter of King Henry III of England. She married 31st August 1281 her half fourth cousin once removed Eric II King Norway, son of King Magnus VI of Norway and Queen Ingeborg of Norway, and had issue.

On 21st January 1264 [her son] Alexander Dunkeld Prince Scotland was born to [her husband] King Alexander III of Scotland (age 22) and Margaret Queen of Scotland (age 23) at Jedburgh. He a grandson of King Henry III of England. He married 14th November 1282 his half third cousin once removed Margaret Dampierre Countess Guelders, daughter of Guy Dampierre Count Flanders and Isabelle Luxemburg Countess Flanders.

Battle of Lewes

On 14th May 1264 the army of Simon de Montfort 6th Earl of Leicester 1st Earl Chester (age 56) including Gilbert "Red Earl" Clare 7th Earl Gloucester 6th Earl Hertford (age 20), Henry Hastings (age 29) and Nicholas Segrave 1st Baron Segrave (age 26) defeated the army of [her father] King Henry III of England (age 56) during the Battle of Lewes at Lewes [Map].

King Henry III of England, his son, the future, [her brother] King Edward I of England (age 24), Humphrey Bohun 2nd Earl Hereford 1st Earl Essex (age 60), [her uncle] Richard of Cornwall 1st Earl Cornwall (age 55), John "Red" Comyn 1st Lord Baddenoch (age 44), Philip Marmion 5th Baron Marmion (age 30) and John Giffard 1st Baron Giffard Brimpsfield (age 32) were captured. John Warenne 6th Earl of Surrey (age 33), John Balliol (age 56), Robert Bruce 5th Lord Annandale (age 49), Roger Leybourne (age 49) and [her uncle] William de Valence 1st Earl Pembroke fought for the King. [her uncle] Guy Lusignan was killed. Fulk IV Fitzwarin (age 44) drowned. Bishop Walter de Cantelupe (age 73) was present and blessed the Montfort army before the battle.

Battle of Evesham

On 4th August 1265 the army loyal to [her father] King Henry III of England (age 57), led by his son the future [her brother] King Edward I of England (age 26), supported by Gilbert "Red Earl" Clare 7th Earl Gloucester 6th Earl Hertford (age 21), Warin Basingburne and John Giffard 1st Baron Giffard Brimpsfield (age 33) defeated the rebel army of Simon de Montfort 6th Earl of Leicester 1st Earl Chester (age 57) at the Battle of Evesham.

Roger Leybourne (age 50) fought and reputedly saved the King's life.

Adam Mohaut rescued the King.

Alan de Plugenet of Kilpec fought for the King.

Simon de Montfort 6th Earl of Leicester 1st Earl Chester was killed. Earl of Leicester, Earl Chester forfeit. His son Henry Montfort (age 26) was also killed.

Hugh Despencer (age 41) was killed by Roger Mortimer 1st Baron Mortimer of Wigmore (age 34). Baron Despencer extinct. It may not have been created as a hereditary barony.

Simon Beauchamp (age 31), Ralph Basset (age 50), William Devereux (age 46), Hugh Troyes, Richard Trussel, Peter Montfort (age 60), William Mandeville, William Crepping, William Birmingham, Guy Balliol and Thomas Astley (age 50) were killed. Henry Hastings (age 30), Humphrey Bohun (age 44), Nicholas Segrave 1st Baron Segrave (age 27), John Vesci, John Fitzjohn and Guy Montfort Count Nola (age 21) were captured.

John Vesci was wounded and taken prisoner.

On 25th October 1265 [her brother] Edmund "Crouchback" Plantagenet 1st Earl of Leicester 1st Earl Lancaster (age 20) was created 1st Earl of Leicester.

Translation of the Relics of Edward the Confessor

On 13th October 1269 the remains of King Edward "The Confessor" of England were moved to a chapel east of the sanctuary in Westminster Abbey [Map]. [her husband] King Alexander III of Scotland (age 28) and Margaret Queen of Scotland (age 29) attended.

On 20th March 1272 [her son] David Dunkeld was born to [her husband] King Alexander III of Scotland (age 30) and Margaret Queen of Scotland (age 31). He a grandson of King Henry III of England. He died aged nine in 1281.

Death of Henry III

On 16th November 1272 [her father] King Henry III of England (age 65) died at Westminster [Map]. His son [her brother] Edward (age 33) succeeded I King of England. [her sister-in-law] Eleanor of Castile Queen Consort England (age 31) by marriage Queen Consort England.

Coronation of King Edward I

On 19th August 1274 [her brother] King Edward I of England (age 35) was crowned I King of England at Westminster Abbey [Map]. [her sister-in-law] Eleanor of Castile Queen Consort England (age 33) was crowned Queen Consort England.

On 26th February 1275 Margaret Queen of Scotland (age 34) died at Cupar Castle, Cupar. She was buried at Dunfermline Abbey [Map].

On 15th October 1285 [her former husband] King Alexander III of Scotland (age 44) and Yolande Capet Duchess Brittany (age 24) were married. She the daughter of Robert Capet IV Count Dreux and Beatrice Montfort Countess Dreux (age 36). He the son of King Alexander II of Scotland and [her former mother-in-law] Marie Coucy.
