Paternal Family Tree: Stanhope

On 19th December 1774 [her father] Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl Stanhope [aged 21] and [her mother] Hester Pitt [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of [her grandfather] William "The Elder" Pitt 1st Earl Chatham [aged 66] and [her grandmother] Hester Granville Countess Chatham [aged 54]. He the son of Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Stanhope [aged 60] and Grizel Hamilton Countess Stanhope. They were half second cousins.

On 12th March 1776 Hester Lucy Stanhope was born to Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl Stanhope [aged 22] and Hester Pitt [aged 20] at Chevening, Sevenoaks.

On 20th July 1780 [her mother] Hester Pitt [aged 24] died.

In 1781 [her father] Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl Stanhope [aged 27] and [her step-mother] Louisa Granville Countess Stanhope [aged 23] were married. She by marriage Countess Stanhope. He the son of [her grandfather] Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Stanhope [aged 66] and [her grandmother] Grizel Hamilton Countess Stanhope.

On 7th March 1786 [her grandfather] Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Stanhope [aged 71] died. His son [her father] Charles [aged 32] succeeded 3rd Earl Stanhope.

In 1800 Hester Lucy Stanhope [aged 23] was sent to live with her maternal grandmother Hester Granville Countess Chatham [aged 79] at Burton Pynsent, Somerset.

In August 1803 Hester Lucy Stanhope [aged 27] moved into the home of her uncle William "The Younger" Pitt [aged 44] to manage his household and act as hostess - he being an unmarried Prime Minister.

On 19th November 1803 [her half-brother] Philip Henry Stanhope 4th Earl Stanhope [aged 21] and [her sister-in-law] Catherine Lucy Smith Countess Stanhope were married. He the son of [her father] Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl Stanhope [aged 50] and [her step-mother] Louisa Granville Countess Stanhope [aged 45].

In 23rd January 1806, after the death of [her uncle] William "The Younger" Pitt [aged 46], Hester Lucy Stanhope [aged 29] was awarded a pension of £1200 per year.

On 15th December 1816 [her father] Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl Stanhope [aged 63] died. His son [her half-brother] Philip [aged 35] succeeded 4th Earl Stanhope. [her sister-in-law] Catherine Lucy Smith Countess Stanhope by marriage Countess Stanhope.

Before 23rd June 1839 William Noel-Hill 3rd Baron Berwick [aged 65] and Hester Lucy Stanhope [aged 63] were engaged.

On 23rd June 1839 Hester Lucy Stanhope [aged 63] died.
