On 28th April 1603 [his father] Edmund Paston [aged 18] and [his mother] Katherine Knyvet [aged 24] were married. They were fourth cousin once removed.
In 1610 William Paston 1st Baronet was born to Edmund Paston [aged 25] and Katherine Knyvet [aged 31].
On 10th March 1629 [his mother] Katherine Knyvet [aged 50] died. Monument in St Margaret's Church, Paston [Map] sculpted by Nicholas Stone [aged 42]. His diary ... made a tomb for my lady Paston ... veryy extraordinary entertained, and pay'd for it £340. The inscription is by John Donne [aged 57]: To the Reviving Memory of the virtuous and right worth Lady, Dame Katherine Paston, daughter unto the Right Worp'll Sir Thomas Knevitt, Knt., and wife to Sir Edmund Paston, Knight with whom she lived in wedlock 26 years and issue two sonnes yet surviving, vizt. William and Thomas, She departed this life the 10th day of March, 1628, and lyeth here intombed expecting a Joyful Resurrection.

Katherine Knyvet: On or before 22nd June 1578 she was born to Thomas Knyvet 4th Baron Berners and Muriel Parry. On 22nd June 1578 she was baptised at Ashwellthorpe, Norfolk. On 28th April 1603 Edmund Paston and she were married. They were fourth cousin once removed. In 1611 Edmund Paston and Katherine Knyvet moved into Paston Hall on the death of his grandfather Christopher Paston.
In 1631 William Paston 1st Baronet [aged 21] and Lady Katherine Bertie were married. She the daughter of Robert Bertie 1st Earl Lindsey [aged 48] and Elizabeth Montagu Countess Lindsey.
On 29th May 1631 [his son] Robert Paston 1st Earl of Yarmouth was born to William Paston 1st Baronet [aged 21] and [his wife] Lady Katherine Bertie. He married 15th June 1650 Rebecca Clayton Countess Yarmouth and had issue.
In 1632 [his father] Edmund Paston [aged 47] died. Monument in St Margaret's Church, Paston [Map].
Edmund Paston: In 1585 he was born to Christopher Paston.
In 1636 [his wife] Lady Katherine Bertie died in childbirth. Memorial in the Church of St Michael, Oxnead [Map]. Bust carved by Nicholas Stone [aged 49].

Lady Katherine Bertie: she was born to Robert Bertie 1st Earl Lindsey and Elizabeth Montagu Countess Lindsey. In 1631 William Paston 1st Baronet and she were married. She the daughter of Robert Bertie 1st Earl Lindsey and Elizabeth Montagu Countess Lindsey.
In 1642 William Paston 1st Baronet [aged 32] was created 1st Baronet Paston of Paston and Oxnead.
On 15th June 1650 [his son] Robert Paston 1st Earl of Yarmouth [aged 19] and [his daughter-in-law] Rebecca Clayton Countess Yarmouth [aged 15] were married.
The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

John Evelyn's Diary. 22nd April 1656. Came to see Mr. Henshaw [aged 38] and Sir William Paston's [aged 46] son [aged 24], since Earl of Yarmouth. Afterward, I went to see his Majesty's [aged 25] house at Eltham [Map], both palace and chapel in miserable ruins, the noble woods and park destroyed by Rich [aged 68], the rebel.

In 1663 William Paston 1st Baronet [aged 53] died. His succeeded son Robert [aged 31] succeeded 2nd Baronet Paston of Paston and Oxnead.
