Around 1661 Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford [aged 12] educated at Westminster School [Map] and Christ Church College, Oxford University.
In 1673 Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford [aged 24] was appointed Barrister at Inner Temple.
In January 1673 [his father] Heneage Finch 1st Earl Nottingham [aged 51] was created 1st Baron Finch Daventry. [his mother] Elizabeth Harvey Baroness Finch [aged 46] by marriage Baroness Finch Daventry.
On 16th June 1674 [his brother] Daniel Finch 2nd Earl Nottingham 7th Earl Winchilsea [aged 26] and [his sister-in-law] Essex Rich Countess Nottingham [aged 22] were married. She the daughter of Robert Rich 3rd Earl Warwick and Anne Cheeke Countess Warwick. He the son of [his father] Heneage Finch 1st Earl Nottingham [aged 52] and [his mother] Elizabeth Harvey Baroness Finch [aged 47].
In 1676 [his mother] Elizabeth Harvey Baroness Finch [aged 49] died.
On 16th May 1678 Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford [aged 29] and Elizabeth Banks Countess Aylesford were married. He the son of Heneage Finch 1st Earl Nottingham [aged 56] and Elizabeth Harvey Baroness Finch.
In 1679 Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford [aged 30] was appointed Solicitor General.
Around 1679 [his daughter] Elizabeth Finch Baroness Bingley was born to Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford [aged 30] and [his wife] Elizabeth Banks Countess Aylesford. She married Robert Benson 1st Baron Bingley and had issue.
This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

His son [his brother] Daniel [aged 35] succeeded 2nd Earl Nottingham, 2nd Baron Finch Daventry. [his sister-in-law] Essex Rich Countess Nottingham [aged 30] by marriage Countess Nottingham.
Around 1683 [his son] Heneage Finch 2nd Earl Aylesford was born to Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford [aged 34] and [his wife] Elizabeth Banks Countess Aylesford. He married before 6th November 1715 Mary Fisher Countess Aylesford, daughter of Clement Fisher 3rd Baronet, and had issue.
On 29th December 1685 [his brother] Daniel Finch 2nd Earl Nottingham 7th Earl Winchilsea [aged 38] and [his sister-in-law] Anne Hatton Countess Nottingham and Winchelsea were married. She being a fourth-cousin once-removed of his first wife Essex Rich Countess Nottingham. She by marriage Countess Nottingham. He the son of Heneage Finch 1st Earl Nottingham and Elizabeth Harvey Baroness Finch.
John Evelyn's Diary. 5th August 1687. I went to see Albury, now purchased by Mr. Finch [aged 38] (the King's Solicitor and son to the late Lord Chancellor); I found the garden which I first designed for the Duke of Norfolk, nothing improved.
In July 1700 [his son-in-law] William Legge 1st Earl Dartmouth [aged 27] and Anne Finch Countess Dartmouth were married. She the daughter of Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford [aged 51] and Elizabeth Banks Countess Aylesford.
In 1714 Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford [aged 65] was created 1st Earl Aylesford. [his wife] Elizabeth Banks Countess Aylesford by marriage Countess Aylesford.
Before 6th November 1715 Heneage Finch 2nd Earl Aylesford [aged 32] and Mary Fisher Countess Aylesford [aged 25] were married. He the son of Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford [aged 66] and Elizabeth Banks Countess Aylesford.
On 22nd July 1719 Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford [aged 70] died. His son Heneage [aged 36] succeeded 2nd Earl Aylesford. Mary Fisher Countess Aylesford [aged 29] by marriage Countess Aylesford.
[his son] John Finch was born to Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford and Elizabeth Banks Countess Aylesford. He married his first cousin Elizabeth Savile.
[his daughter] Anne Finch Countess Dartmouth was born to Heneage Finch 1st Earl Aylesford and Elizabeth Banks Countess Aylesford. She married July 1700 William Legge 1st Earl Dartmouth, son of George Legge 1st Baron Dartmouth and Barbara Archbold Baroness Dartmouth, and had issue.
