On 29th July 1845 [his father] Colin Lindsay [aged 25] and [his mother] Frances Howard [aged 18] were married. He the son of [his grandfather] James Lindsay 7th Earl Balcarres 24th Earl of Crawford [aged 62] and [his grandmother] Maria Pennington Countess Balcarres and Crawford [aged 61].

On 8th June 1846 William Lindsay was born to Colin Lindsay [aged 26] and Frances Howard [aged 19].

On 7th May 1870 William Lindsay [aged 23] and Harriet Gordon [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of George John Hamilton-Gordon 5th Earl Aberdeen and Mary Bailie-Hamilton Countess Aberdeen [aged 55].

In 1877 [his brother-in-law] John Hamilton-Gordon 1st Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair [aged 29] and Isabel Marjoribanks Marchioness of Aberdeen and Ternair [aged 19] were married at St George's Church, Hanover Square. She by marriage Countess Aberdeen. They had four children. He the son of George John Hamilton-Gordon 5th Earl Aberdeen and [his mother-in-law] Mary Bailie-Hamilton Countess Aberdeen [aged 62].

The Queen has been pleased to direct Letters Patent to be passed under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland granting unto William Alexander Lindsay [aged 36], Esq., the office of Portcullis Pursuivant of Arms, vacant by the promotion of Arthur Staunton Larken, Esq., to the office of Richmond Herald

On 28th January 1892 [his father] Colin Lindsay [aged 72] died.
