On 25th November 1710 [his father] Richard Granville [aged 32] and [his mother] Hester Temple 1st Countess Temple [aged 20] were married.

On 26th September 1711 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple was born to Richard Granville [aged 33] and Hester Temple 1st Countess Temple [aged 21].

On 17th February 1727 [his father] Richard Granville [aged 48] died.

In 1734 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 22] was elected MP Buckingham which seat he held until 1741.

On 9th May 1737 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 25] and Anne Chamber Countess Temple were married. He the son of Richard Granville and Hester Temple 1st Countess Temple [aged 47].

In 1741 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 29] was elected MP Buckinghamshire which seat he held until 1747.

In 1747 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 35] was elected MP Buckingham which seat he held until 1752.

In 1747 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 35] was appointed High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire.

On 14th September 1749 [his uncle] Field Marshal Richard Temple 1st Viscount Cobham [aged 73] died without surviving issue. His sister [his mother] Hester [aged 59] succeeded 2nd Viscountess Cobham by special remainder. Baron Cobham extinct. His second cousin once removed William [aged 55] succeeded 5th Baronet Temple of Stowe.

On 18th October 1749 [his mother] Hester Temple 1st Countess Temple [aged 59] was created 1st Countess Temple. [his father] Richard Granville by marriage Earl Temple.

In 1752 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 40] changed his surname from Grenville to Grenville-Temple.

Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke

Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson.

In 1752 [his mother] Hester Temple 1st Countess Temple [aged 62] died. Her son Richard [aged 40] succeeded 2nd Earl Temple, 3rd Viscount Cobham. [his wife] Anne Chamber Countess Temple by marriage Countess Temple.

On 16th November 1754 [his brother-in-law] William "The Elder" Pitt 1st Earl Chatham [aged 46] and [his half-sister] Hester Granville Countess Chatham [aged 34] were married. She the daughter of [his father] Richard Granville.

In 1756 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 44] was appointed First Lord of the Admiralty which office he held until 1757.

In 1757 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 45] was appointed Lord Privy Seal which office he held until 1761.

In 1758 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 46] was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire.

In 1760 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 48] was appointed 579th Knight of the Garter by King George II of Great Britain and Ireland [aged 76].

On 4th August 1766 [his brother-in-law] William "The Elder" Pitt 1st Earl Chatham [aged 57] was created 1st Earl Chatham. [his half-sister] Hester Granville Countess Chatham [aged 45] by marriage Countess Chatham.

On 7th April 1777 [his wife] Anne Chamber Countess Temple died.

On 12th September 1779 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 67] died in a carriage accident without surviving issue. His nephew George [aged 26] succeeded 3rd Earl Temple, 4th Viscount Cobham.
