On 14th October 1783 Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery was born to Neil Primrose 3rd Earl Rosebery [aged 54] and Mary Vincent Countess Rosebery [aged 31].

On 27th May 1800 [his brother-in-law] Kenneth Alexander Howard 1st Earl of Effingham [aged 32] and [his sister] Charlotte Primrose Countess Effingham [aged 24] were married. Charlotte Primrose Countess Effingham by marriage Baroness Howard of Effingham. She the daughter of [his father] Neil Primrose 3rd Earl Rosebery [aged 71] and [his mother] Mary Vincent Countess Rosebery [aged 48]. They were first cousin once removed.

In 1808 Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery [aged 24] and Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden [aged 17] were married. He the son of Neil Primrose 3rd Earl Rosebery [aged 79] and Mary Vincent Countess Rosebery [aged 55].

On 2nd October 1809 [his son] Archibald John Primrose was born to Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery [aged 25] and [his wife] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden [aged 18]. He married 20th September 1843 Catherine Lucy Wilhelmina Stanhope Duchess of Cleveland, daughter of Philip Henry Stanhope 4th Earl Stanhope and Catherine Lucy Smith Countess Stanhope, and had issue.

In 1810 [his daughter] Harriet Primrose was born to Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery [aged 26] and [his wife] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden [aged 19].

In 1812 [his daughter] Mary Anne Primrose was born to Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery [aged 28] and [his wife] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden [aged 21].

In 1813 [his son] Bouverie Francis Primrose was born to Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery [aged 29] and [his wife] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden [aged 22]. He married Frederica Sophia Anson, daughter of Thomas Anson 1st Viscount Anson and Anne Margaret Coke Viscountess Anson.

In 1813 Paulet St John-Mildmay [aged 21] and Anna Maria Wyndham Bouverie were married. His brother Henry St John-Mildmay 4th Baronet [aged 25] had been married to her sister [his sister-in-law] Charlotte Bouverie, and would, in 1815 marry another sister, [his wife] Harriet [aged 22]; Marriage of Two Sets of Siblings.

In 1814 [his father] Neil Primrose 3rd Earl Rosebery [aged 85] died. His succeeded son Archibald [aged 30] succeeded 4th Earl Rosebery. [his wife] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden [aged 23] by marriage Countess Rosebery.

The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

Further, his brother Paulet St John-Mildmay [aged 23] had two years before, in 1813, marry Anna Maria Wyndham Bouverie, sister of Harriet and Charlotte Bouverie; Marriage of Two Sets of Siblings. Further still, Harriet, Charlotte and Anna Maria's first cousin William Pleydell-Bouverie 3rd Earl Radnor [aged 35] married Henry and Paulet's sister Judith [aged 24].

In 1815 Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery [aged 31] divorced [his wife] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden [aged 24] after she eloped with Henry St John-Mildmay 4th Baronet [aged 27] who had previously been married to her sister [his sister-in-law] Charlotte Bouverie who had died in childbirth five years previously.

In 1819 Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery [aged 35] and Anna Margaret Anson Countess Camden [aged 22] were married. Anna Margaret Anson Countess Camden by marriage Countess Camden. He the son of Neil Primrose 3rd Earl Rosebery and Mary Vincent Countess Rosebery [aged 66].

On 11th February 1819 [his brother-in-law] Thomas William Anson 1st Earl Lichfield [aged 23] and Louisa Barbara Catherine Phillips Countess Lichfield [aged 19] were married.

On 22nd August 1820 [his daughter] Anne Primrose was born to Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery [aged 36] and [his wife] Anna Margaret Anson Countess Camden [aged 23].

On 4th May 1822 [his daughter] Louisa Primrose was born to Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery [aged 38] and [his wife] Anna Margaret Anson Countess Camden [aged 25].

On 9th March 1823 [his mother] Mary Vincent Countess Rosebery [aged 70] died.

In 1826 [his daughter] Mary Anne Primrose [aged 14] died.

On 9th December 1834 [his wife] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden [aged 44] died.

In 1837 [his brother-in-law] Kenneth Alexander Howard 1st Earl of Effingham [aged 69] was created 1st Earl of Effingham. [his sister] Charlotte Primrose Countess Effingham [aged 61] by marriage Countess of Effingham.

On 9th May 1839 Francis George Hugh Seymour-Conway 5th Marquess Hertford [aged 27] and [his sister-in-law] Frances Elizabeth Anson Marchioness Hertford [aged 29] were married.

Abbot John Whethamstede’s Chronicle of the Abbey of St Albans

Abbot John Whethamstede's Register aka Chronicle of his second term at the Abbey of St Albans, 1451-1461, is a remarkable text that describes his first-hand experience of the beginning of the Wars of the Roses including the First and Second Battles of St Albans, 1455 and 1461, respectively, their cause, and their consequences, not least on the Abbey itself. His text also includes Loveday, Blore Heath, Northampton, the Act of Accord, Wakefield, and Towton, and ends with the Coronation of King Edward IV. In addition to the events of the Wars of the Roses, Abbot John, or his scribes who wrote the Chronicle, include details in the life of the Abbey such as charters, letters, land exchanges, visits by legates, and disputes, which provide a rich insight into the day-to-day life of the Abbey, and the challenges faced by its Abbot.

On 17th September 1862 [his daughter] Anne Primrose [aged 42] died.

On 4th March 1868 Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery [aged 84] died. His succeeded grandson Archibald [aged 20] succeeded 5th Earl Rosebery.
