On 29th November 1683 [his father] Henry Waldegrave 1st Baron Waldegrave [aged 22] and [his mother] Henrietta Fitzjames Countess Newcastle [aged 16] were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] King James II of England Scotland and Ireland [aged 50] and [his grandmother] Anne Hyde Duchess of York.

In 1684 James Waldegrave 1st Earl Waldegrave was born to Henry Waldegrave 1st Baron Waldegrave [aged 23] and Henrietta Fitzjames Countess Newcastle [aged 17]. He a grandson of King James II of England Scotland and Ireland.

Around 1684 [his grandfather] Charles Waldegrave 3rd Baronet [aged 58] died. Around 1684 His son [his father] Henry [aged 23] succeeded 4th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle. [his mother] Henrietta Fitzjames Countess Newcastle [aged 17] by marriage Lady Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

In 1686 [his father] Henry Waldegrave 1st Baron Waldegrave [aged 25] was created 1st Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset by [his grandfather] King James II of England Scotland and Ireland [aged 52] three years after Henry Waldegrave 1st Baron Waldegrave married the King's illegitimate daughter [his mother] Henrietta Fitzjames Countess Newcastle [aged 19]. Henrietta Fitzjames Countess Newcastle by marriage Baroness Waldegrave Chewton Somerset.

On 24th January 1689 [his father] Henry Waldegrave 1st Baron Waldegrave [aged 28] died. His son James [aged 5] succeeded 2nd Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 5th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

On 3rd April 1695 [his step-father] Piers Butler 1st Earl Newcastle [aged 43] and [his mother] Henrietta Fitzjames Countess Newcastle [aged 28] were married. She by marriage Countess Newcastle in Limerick. She the daughter of [his grandfather] King James II of England Scotland and Ireland [aged 61] and [his grandmother] Anne Hyde Duchess of York.

On 20th May 1714 James Waldegrave 1st Earl Waldegrave [aged 30] and Mary Webb [aged 19] were married. He the son of Henry Waldegrave 1st Baron Waldegrave and Henrietta Fitzjames Countess Newcastle [aged 47]. They were fourth cousins. He a grandson of King James II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 4th March 1715 [his son] James Waldegrave 2nd Earl Waldegrave was born to James Waldegrave 1st Earl Waldegrave [aged 31] and [his wife] Mary Webb [aged 20]. He a great grandson of King James II of England Scotland and Ireland. He married 15th May 1759 Maria Walpole Duchess Gloucester and Edinburgh and had issue.

In 1717 [his daughter] Henrietta Waldegrave was born to James Waldegrave 1st Earl Waldegrave [aged 33] and [his wife] Mary Webb [aged 22]. She a great granddaughter of King James II of England Scotland and Ireland. She married 1734 her fourth cousin once removed Edward Herbert, son of William Herbert 2nd Marquess Powis and Mary Preston Marchioness Powis, and had issue.

On 28th April 1718 [his son] John Waldegrave 3rd Earl Waldegrave was born to James Waldegrave 1st Earl Waldegrave [aged 34] and [his wife] Mary Webb [aged 23]. He a great grandson of King James II of England Scotland and Ireland. He married 7th May 1751 his sixth cousin Elizabeth Leveson-Gower Countess Waldegrave, daughter of John Leveson-Gower 1st Earl Gower and Evelyn Pierrepont Baroness Gower, and had issue.

On 22nd January 1719 [his wife] Mary Webb [aged 24] died.

In 1729 James Waldegrave 1st Earl Waldegrave [aged 45] was created 1st Earl Waldegrave.

On 3rd April 1730 [his mother] Henrietta Fitzjames Countess Newcastle [aged 63] died.

The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

She a great granddaughter of King James II of England Scotland and Ireland.

In 1738 James Waldegrave 1st Earl Waldegrave [aged 54] was appointed 553rd Knight of the Garter by King George II of Great Britain and Ireland [aged 54].

On 11th April 1741 James Waldegrave 1st Earl Waldegrave [aged 57] died. His son James [aged 26] succeeded 2nd Earl Waldegrave, 3rd Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 6th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.
