Before 20th January 1583 John Maxwell Lord of Terregles [aged 71] and Agnes Herries 4th Lady of Terregles [aged 49] were married. He by marriage Lord Herries of Terregles. The difference in their ages was 22 years.

On 14th March 1594 Agnes Herries 4th Lady of Terregles [aged 60] died. Her son William [aged 38] succeeded 5th Lord Herries of Terregles.

Before March 1600 William Maxwell 5th Lord of Terregles [aged 44] and Catherine Kerr Lady Terregles [aged 45] were married. She by marriage Lord Herries of Terregles.

On 10th October 1603 William Maxwell 5th Lord of Terregles [aged 47] died. His son John [aged 23] succeeded 6th Lord Herries of Terregles.

Before May 1631 John Maxwell 6th Lord Herries of Terregles [aged 51] and Elizabeth Maxwell Lady Terregles [aged 46] were married. She by marriage Lord Herries of Terregles. She the daughter of John Maxwell 1st Earl Morton and Elizabeth Douglas Countess Morton. They were second cousins.

Around May 1631 John Maxwell 6th Lord Herries of Terregles [aged 51] died. His son John [aged 26] succeeded 7th Lord Herries of Terregles.

On 23rd March 1683 Robert Maxwell 4th Earl Nithsdale [aged 55] died. His son William succeeded 5th Earl Nithsdale, 14th Lord Maxwell, 8th Lord Herries of Terregles.

On 20th March 1734 William Maxwell 5th Earl Nithsale died. Unclear as to whether he was attainted or His son William succeeded 6th Earl Nithsdale, 15th Lord Maxwell, 9th Lord Herries of Terregles.

On 6th March 1773 William Maxwell 6th Earl Nithsdale died without male issue. Earl Nithsdale, Lord Maxwell and Lord Herries of Terregles extinct?

On 23rd June 1858 William Constable-Maxwell 10th Lord Herries [aged 53] was restored 10th Lord Herries of Terregles being the grandson of Winifred Maxwell whose father William Maxwell 6th Earl Nithsdale was 10th Lord Herries of Terregles.

In 1875 Marmaduke Constable-Maxwell 11th Lord Herries [aged 37] and Angela Mary Charlotte Fitzalan Howard Lady Herries were married. She by marriage Lord Herries of Terregles. They were fifth cousin once removed.

On 12th November 1876 William Constable-Maxwell 10th Lord Herries [aged 72] died. His son Marmaduke [aged 39] succeeded 11th Lord Herries of Terregles.

On 5th October 1908 Marmaduke Constable-Maxwell 11th Lord Herries [aged 71] died. His daughter Gwendolen [aged 31] succeeded 12th Lord Herries of Terregles.

On 31st January 1975 Bernard Fitzalan 16th Duke of Norfolk [aged 66] died. His second cousin Miles [aged 59] succeeded 17th Duke Norfolk, 28th or 35th Earl Arundel, 18th Earl Surrey, 15th Earl Norfolk, 25th Baron Maltravers, 25th Baron Arundel. Anne Constable-Maxwell Duchess Norfolk [aged 47] by marriage Duchess Norfolk. His daughter Anne [aged 36] succeeded 14th Lord Herries of Terregles.

On 23rd November 2014 Anne Elizabeth Fitzalan Baroness Cowdrey [aged 76] died. Her sister Mary [aged 74] succeeded 15th Lord Herries of Terregles.

On 7th April 2017 Mary Katharine Fitzalan 15th Lady Herries [aged 76] died. Her sister Theresa [aged 71] succeeded 16th Lord Herries of Terregles.
