In April 1840 [his mother] Anne Harley Baroness Rodney (age 80) died.

On 21st June 1842 [his brother] George Rodney 3rd Baron Rodney (age 60) died. His brother [his brother] Thomas (age 58) succeeded 4th Baron Rodney of Rodney Stoke in Somerset.

On 15th May 1846 Spencer Rodney 5th Baron Rodney (age 61) died at Harley Street Marylebone. He was buried at Eye, Suffolk. His nephew Robert (age 25) succeeded 6th Baron Rodney of Rodney Stoke in Somerset.
