The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." On 4th February 1760 Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet was born to Charles Gould aka Morgan 1st Baronet (age 33) and Jane Morgan (age 29).
On 21st November 1777 Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet (age 17) was commissioned ensign and lieutenant in the Coldstream Guards.
On 22nd March 1781 Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet (age 21) was promoted to Lieutenant and Captain.
Between 28th September 1781 and 19th October 1781 the 1781 Battle of Yorktown was fought was a decisive victory by a combined force of the American Continental Army troops led by General George Washington (age 49) and Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, and French Army troops led by Comte de Rochambeau over British Army troops commanded by British peer and Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis (age 42).
Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis and Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet (age 21) were captured.
In 1787 Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet (age 26) was elected MP Brecon which seat he held until 1796.
On 14th May 1790 Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet (age 30) was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel.
In 1791 Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet (age 30) and Mary Margaret or Magdalen Stoney were married.
On 10th April 1792 [his son] Charles Morgan 1st Baron Tredegar was born to Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet (age 32) and [his wife] Mary Margaret or Magdalen Stoney. He was educated at Harrow School, Westminster School [Map] and Christ Church College, Oxford University.
On 4th May 1792 Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet (age 32) retired from the Army.
On 27th June 1792 [his uncle] John Morgan (age 50) died. His sister [his mother] Jane Morgan (age 61) and her husband [his father] Charles Gould aka Morgan 1st Baronet (age 66) and inherited Tredegar House, Monmouthshire on condition he changed his name from Gould to Morgan which he did by royal licence on 20th November 1792. His children including Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet (age 32) also changed their surname.
In 1796 Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet (age 35) was elected MP Monmouthshire which seat he held until 1831.
In 1797 [his mother] Jane Morgan (age 66) died.
On 7th December 1806 [his father] Charles Gould aka Morgan 1st Baronet (age 80) died at Tredegar House, Monmouthshire. His son Charles (age 46) succeeded 2nd Baronet Morgan of Tredegar.

In 1827 [his son] Charles Morgan 1st Baron Tredegar (age 34) and [his daughter-in-law] Rosamund Mundy (age 17) were married.
On 5th December 1846 Charles Gould aka Morgan 2nd Baronet (age 86) died. His son [his son] Charles (age 54) succeeded 3rd Baronet Morgan of Tredegar.
