Paternal Family Tree: Lumley
Before 1753 [his father] Richard Lumley-Saunderson 4th Earl Scarborough [aged 27] and [his mother] Barbara Savile Countess Scarborough were married. She by marriage Countess of Scarborough. He the son of [his grandfather] Thomas Lumley-Saunderson 3rd Earl Scarborough and [his grandmother] Frances Hamilton Countess Scarborough.
On 16th April 1757 Richard Lumley-Saunderson 6th Earl Scarborough was born to Richard Lumley-Saunderson 4th Earl Scarborough [aged 31] and Barbara Savile Countess Scarborough.
On 14th March 1766 James Lumley [aged 60] died unmarried, heavily in debt. He left his Durham estates to his nephew [his father] Richard Lumley-Saunderson 4th Earl Scarborough [aged 40] and his Sussex estates to his nephew George Montagu Dunk 2nd Earl Halifax [aged 49].
On 12th May 1782 [his father] Richard Lumley-Saunderson 4th Earl Scarborough [aged 57] died. His son [his brother] George [aged 28] succeeded 5th Earl of Scarborough, 6th Viscount Lumley, 5th Baron Lumley.
In 1784 Richard Lumley-Saunderson 6th Earl Scarborough [aged 26] was elected MP Lincoln.
In November 1785 [his brother] John Lumley-Savile 7th Earl Scarborough [aged 24] and [his sister-in-law] Anna Maria Herring Viscountess Lumley were married. He the son of [his father] Richard Lumley-Saunderson 4th Earl Scarborough and [his mother] Barbara Savile Countess Scarborough.
In 1797 Richard Lumley-Saunderson 6th Earl Scarborough [aged 39] was appointed High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire.
On 5th September 1807 George Lumley-Saunderson 5th Earl Scarborough [aged 53] died. His brother Richard [aged 50] succeeded 6th Earl of Scarborough, 7th Viscount Lumley, 6th Baron Lumley. Henrietta Willoughby Viscountess Lumley by marriage Viscountess Lumley.
Before 17th June 1832 Richard Lumley-Saunderson 6th Earl Scarborough [aged 75] and Henrietta Willoughby Viscountess Lumley were married. He the son of Richard Lumley-Saunderson 4th Earl Scarborough and Barbara Savile Countess Scarborough.
This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

In March 1846 [his former wife] Henrietta Willoughby Viscountess Lumley died.
