On 7th December 983 [his brother-in-law] Otto "Red" II King Germany II Holy Roman Emperor II King Italy [aged 28] died following a malaria outbreak. His son Otto [aged 3] succeeded III King Germany.

In 984 [his son] Louis "Do Nothing" V King West Francia [aged 17] and [his daughter-in-law] Adelaide-Blanche of Anjou Queen Consort West Francia [aged 44] marriage annulled.

On 2nd March 986 Lothair III King West Francia [aged 45] died. His son Louis [aged 19] succeeded V King West Francia. Adelaide-Blanche of Anjou Queen Consort West Francia [aged 46] by marriage Queen Consort West Francia.

After 987 [his former wife] Emma of Italy Queen of West Francia [deceased] died.
