On 25th October 1324 John Botetort 1st Baron Botetort [aged 59] died. His grandson John [aged 6] succeeded 2nd Baron Botetort.

On 4th April 1386 John Botetort 2nd Baron Botetort [aged 68] died. His granddaughter Joyce [aged 18] succeeded 3rd Baroness Botetort.

On 1st January 1407 Joyce Botetort 3rd Baroness Botetort [aged 39] died. Baron Botetort abeyant.

On 13th April 1764 Norborne Berkeley 4th Baron Botetort [aged 47] abeyance terminated 4th Baron Botetort after almost 400 years of the title being abeyant.

On 15th October 1770 Norborne Berkeley 4th Baron Botetort [aged 53] died in Williamsburg. Baron Botetort abeyant.

On 4th June 1803 Henry Somerset 5th Duke Beaufort [aged 58] abeyance terminated 5th Baron Botetort.

On 11th October 1803 Henry Somerset 5th Duke Beaufort [aged 58] died. He was buried at St Michael and all Angels Church, Badminton. His son Henry [aged 36] succeeded 6th Duke Beaufort, 8th Marquess Worcester, 12th Earl Worcester, 14th Baron Herbert of Raglan, 6th Baron Botetort. Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort [aged 32] by marriage Duchess Beaufort.

The True Chronicles of Jean le Bel Volume 2 Chapters 61-109 1342-1361

The Chronicle of Jean le Bel, Volume 2 continues one of the most important fourteenth-century accounts of the early Hundred Years’ War. Written by the Liège chronicler Jean le Bel, this vivid narrative follows the fortunes of Edward III, Jean II of France, the Black Prince, the great nobles of France and England, and the soldiers, captains and companies who shaped the conflict. This volume covers some of the most dramatic events of the period, including the battles of Crécy and Poitiers, the siege and capture of Calais, the captivity of King John, the rise of the Jacquerie, the turmoil in Paris under Étienne Marcel and Charles of Navarre, the devastation caused by the free companies, Edward III’s great campaign of 1359–1360, and the negotiations leading to the Treaty of Brétigny. Jean le Bel’s chronicle is especially valuable for its lively detail, its interest in chivalry, warfare, politics and reputation, and its influence on later chroniclers, most famously Froissart. His son Henry [aged 43] succeeded 7th Duke Beaufort, 9th Marquess Worcester, 13th Earl Worcester, 15th Baron Herbert of Raglan, 7th Baron Botetort. Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 35] by marriage Duchess Beaufort.

On 17th November 1853 Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 61] died. His son Henry [aged 29] succeeded 8th Duke Beaufort, 10th Marquess Worcester, 14th Earl Worcester, 16th Baron Herbert of Raglan, 8th Baron Botetort. Georgiana Charlotte Curzon Howe Duchess Beaufort [aged 28] by marriage Duchess Beaufort.

In 1899 Henry Charles Fitzroy Somerset 8th Duke Beaufort [aged 75] died at Badminton House. He was buried at St Michael and all Angels Church, Badminton. His son Henry [aged 51] succeeded 9th Duke Beaufort, 11th Marquess Worcester, 15th Earl Worcester, 17th Baron Herbert of Raglan, 9th Baron Botetort. Louise Emily Harford 9th Duchess Beaufort [aged 34] by marriage Duchess Beaufort.

On 24th November 1924 Henry Adelbert Wellington Fitzroy 9th Duke Beaufort [aged 77] died at Badminton House. He was buried at St Michael and all Angels Church, Badminton. His son Henry [aged 24] succeeded 10th Duke Beaufort, 12th Marquess Worcester, 16th Earl Worcester, 18th Baron Herbert of Raglan, 10th Baron Botetort.

On 5th February 1984 Henry Hugh Arthur Fitzroy Somerset 10th Duke Beaufort [aged 83] died at Badminton House without issue. He was buried at St Michael and all Angels Church, Badminton. His first cousin twice removed David [aged 55] succeeded 11th Duke Beaufort, 13th Marquess Worcester, 17th Earl Worcester, 19th Baron Herbert of Raglan. Baron Botetort abeyant. Caroline Jane Thynne 11th Duchess Beaufort [aged 56] by marriage Duchess Beaufort.

On 17th March 1664 Charles Berkeley 1st Earl Falmouth [aged 34] was created 1st Earl Falmouth, 1st Baron Botetourt Langport in Somerset. Mary Bagot Countess Falmouth and Dorset [aged 19] by marriage Countess Falmouth.

On 3rd June 1665 at the Battle of Lowestoft an English fleet commanded by King James II of England Scotland and Ireland [aged 31], Prince Rupert Palatinate Simmern 1st Duke Cumberland [aged 45] and Edward Montagu 1st Earl Sandwich [aged 39] defeated a Dutch Fleet.

Richard Boyle was killed.

Charles Maccarthy Viscount Muskerry was killed.

Charles Berkeley 1st Earl Falmouth [aged 35] was killed by a cannonball aboard the Royal Charles. Earl Falmouth extinct, Baron Botetourt Langport in Somerset extinct. His father Charles [aged 65] succeeded 2nd Viscount Fitzhardinge of Berehaven in Kerry. Penelope Godolphin Viscountess Fitzhardinge by marriage Viscountess Fitzhardinge of Berehaven in Kerry. Possibly the only occasion when a father has succeeded his son.

Charles Weston 3rd Earl of Portland [deceased] was killed by a cannon shot. On 13th June 1665 His uncle Thomas [aged 55] succeeded 4th Earl of Portland, 4th Baron Weston of Nayland in Suffolk.

Thomas Allin 1st Baronet [aged 53] was present.

Admiral Jeremy Smith commanded the Mary.

Captain George Batts fought. He was assigned to Sir George Ayscue's [aged 49] division in the Blue Squadron.

James Ley 3rd Earl Marlborough [aged 47] was killed at the Battle of Lowestoft commanding Old James attempting to recover a captured ship. His half brother William [aged 53] succeeded 4th Earl Marlborough.
