Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort 1792-1853

On 16th May 1791 [his father] Henry Charles Somerset 6th Duke Beaufort [aged 24] and [his mother] Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort [aged 20] were married at St Mary at Lambeth Church, Surrey [Map]. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Granville Leveson-Gower 1st Marquess Stafford [aged 69] and [his grandmother] Susanna Stewart Marchioness Stafford. He the son of Henry Somerset 5th Duke Beaufort [aged 46] and Elizabeth Boscawen Duchess Beaufort [aged 43]. They were half fourth cousin once removed.

On 5th February 1792 Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort was born to Henry Charles Somerset 6th Duke Beaufort [aged 25] and Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort [aged 21].

On 11th October 1803 [his grandfather] Henry Somerset 5th Duke Beaufort [aged 58] died. He was buried at St Michael and all Angels Church, Badminton. His son [his father] Henry [aged 36] succeeded 6th Duke Beaufort, 8th Marquess Worcester, 12th Earl Worcester, 14th Baron Herbert of Raglan, 6th Baron Botetort. [his mother] Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort [aged 32] by marriage Duchess Beaufort.

On 25th July 1814 Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 22] and Georgiana Frederica Fitzroy [aged 21] were married at Upper Brook Street. Following her death in 1821 he would marry her younger half-sister Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 14]. An example of a man marrying two sisters, albeit in this case half-sisters. He the son of Henry Charles Somerset 6th Duke Beaufort [aged 47] and Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort [aged 43]. They were fourth cousins. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

In 1816 [his daughter] Charlotte Augusta Frederica Somerset was born to Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 23] and [his wife] Georgiana Frederica Fitzroy [aged 23].

In 1817 [his daughter] Georgiana Charlotte Anne Somerset was born to Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 24] and [his wife] Georgiana Frederica Fitzroy [aged 24]. She married 29th December 1836 her third cousin once removed Christopher William Codrington and had issue.

On 11th May 1821 [his wife] Georgiana Frederica Fitzroy [aged 28] died at Apsley House, Hyde Park Corner.

On 29th June 1822 Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 30] and Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 22] were married. She being the younger half-sister of his first wife Georgiana Frederica Fitzroy both of whom's mother was Anne Wellesley [aged 54] sister of Arthur Wellesley 1st Duke Wellington [aged 53]. An example of a man marrying two sisters, albeit in this case half-sisters. He the son of Henry Charles Somerset 6th Duke Beaufort [aged 55] and Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort [aged 51].

On 12th August 1823 [his brother-in-law] Frederick Gough 4th Baron Calthorpe [aged 33] and [his sister] Charlotte Sophia Somerset Baroness Calthorpe [aged 28] were married. She the daughter of [his father] Henry Charles Somerset 6th Duke Beaufort [aged 56] and [his mother] Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort [aged 52].

In 1824 [his son] Henry Charles Fitzroy Somerset 8th Duke Beaufort was born to Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 31] and [his wife] Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 23] at Paris [Map]. He married 3rd July 1845 his fourth cousin Georgiana Charlotte Curzon Howe Duchess Beaufort, daughter of Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe and Harriet Georgiana Brudenell Countess Howe, and had issue.

In 1828 [his daughter] Emily Blanche Charlotte Somerset Countess Kinnoul was born to Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 35] and [his wife] Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 27]. She married 20th July 1848 George Hay-Drummond 12th Earl Kinnoull, son of Thomas Hay-Drummond 11th Earl Kinnoull and Louisa Burton Rowley Countess Kinnoul, and had issue.

In 1829 [his daughter] Rose Caroline Mary Somerset was born to Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 36] and [his wife] Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 28].

On 11th May 1830 [his brother-in-law] George Cholmondeley 2nd Marquess Cholmondeley [aged 38] and [his sister] Susan Carolina Somerset Marchioness Cholmondeley [aged 26] were married. She by marriage Marchioness Cholmondeley. She the daughter of [his father] Henry Charles Somerset 6th Duke Beaufort [aged 63] and [his mother] Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort [aged 59]. He the son of George Cholmondeley 1st Marquess Cholmondeley and Georgina Charlotte Bertie Marchioness Cholmondeley [aged 68]. They were fifth cousin once removed.

In 1831 [his daughter] Henrietta Louisa Priscilla Somerset was born to Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 38] and [his wife] Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 30].

In 1832 [his daughter] Geraldine Harriett Mary Somerset was born to Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 39] and [his wife] Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 31].

On 9th August 1833 [his brother-in-law] Randolph Stewart 9th Earl Galloway [aged 33] and [his sister] Harriet Blanche Somerset Countess Galloway [aged 21] were married. She the daughter of [his father] Henry Charles Somerset 6th Duke Beaufort [aged 66] and [his mother] Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Beaufort [aged 62]. He the son of George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 65] and Jane Paget Countess Galloway [aged 58]. They were second cousins.

On 27th March 1834 George Stewart 8th Earl Galloway [aged 66] died. His son [his brother-in-law] Randolph [aged 34] succeeded 9th Earl Galloway, 8th Baronet Stewart of Corsewall, 7th Baronet Stewart of Burray in Orkney. [his sister] Harriet Blanche Somerset Countess Galloway [aged 22] by marriage Countess Galloway.

On 30th August 1834 [his daughter] Katherine Somerset Baroness Ormathwaite was born to Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 42] and [his wife] Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 34]. She married 20th July 1858 her fifth cousin Arthur Walsh 2nd Baron Ormathwaite, son of John Benn Walsh 1st Baron Ormathwaite and Jane Grey Baroness Ormathwaite, and had issue.

On 23rd November 1835 [his father] Henry Charles Somerset 6th Duke Beaufort [aged 68] died. His son Henry [aged 43] succeeded 7th Duke Beaufort, 9th Marquess Worcester, 13th Earl Worcester, 15th Baron Herbert of Raglan, 7th Baron Botetort. [his wife] Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 35] by marriage Duchess Beaufort.

On 29th December 1836 [his son-in-law] Christopher William Codrington [aged 31] and Georgiana Charlotte Anne Somerset [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 44] and Georgiana Frederica Fitzroy. They were third cousin once removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 1st June 1838 [his daughter] Edith Somerset Countess Londesborough was born to Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 46] and [his wife] Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 38]. She married 1863 her third cousin William Henry Forester Denison 1st Earl Londesborough, son of Albert Conygham aka Denison 1st Baron Londesborough and Henrietta Maria Weld-Forester, and had issue.

Before 8th October 1840 John Jeffreys Pratt 1st Marquess Camden [aged 81] sold 22 Arlington Street, Piccadilly to Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 48].

On 3rd July 1845 Henry Charles Fitzroy Somerset 8th Duke Beaufort [aged 21] and Georgiana Charlotte Curzon Howe Duchess Beaufort [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe [aged 48] and Harriet Georgiana Brudenell Countess Howe. He the son of Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 53] and Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 45]. They were fourth cousins.

On 20th July 1848 [his son-in-law] George Hay-Drummond 12th Earl Kinnoull [aged 21] and Emily Blanche Charlotte Somerset Countess Kinnoul [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 56] and Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 48]. He the son of Thomas Hay-Drummond 11th Earl Kinnoull [aged 63] and Louisa Burton Rowley Countess Kinnoul.

In 1850 [his daughter] Charlotte Augusta Frederica Somerset [aged 34] died.

In September 1851 George Gough-Calthorpe 3rd Baron Calthorpe [aged 64] died unmarried at Lyon, France [Map]. His brother [his brother-in-law] Frederick [aged 61] succeeded 4th Baron Calthorpe of Calthorpe in Norfolk, 5th Gough-Calthorpe of Edgbaston in Warwickshire. [his sister] Charlotte Sophia Somerset Baroness Calthorpe [aged 56] by marriage Baroness Calthorpe of Calthorpe in Norfolk.

On 17th November 1853 Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort [aged 61] died. His son Henry [aged 29] succeeded 8th Duke Beaufort, 10th Marquess Worcester, 14th Earl Worcester, 16th Baron Herbert of Raglan, 8th Baron Botetort. Georgiana Charlotte Curzon Howe Duchess Beaufort [aged 28] by marriage Duchess Beaufort.

On 2nd October 1889 [his former wife] Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort [aged 89] died.
