On 19th January 1539 [his father] Edward Fitton [aged 11] and [his mother] Anne Warburton [aged 11] were married. They had nine sons and six daughters during their thrity-four year marriage.
Around 1548 Edward Fitton was born to Edward Fitton [aged 20] and Anne Warburton [aged 20].
In or before 1572 Edward Fitton [aged 23] and Alice Holcroft [aged 31] were married.
In 1572 Edward Fitton [aged 24] was elected MP Wigan.
On 3rd December 1572 [his son] Edward Fitton 1st Baronet was born to Edward Fitton [aged 24] and [his wife] Alice Holcroft [aged 32]. He married before 1594 Anne Barratt and had issue.
On 9th July 1573 [his mother] Anne Warburton [aged 46] died at Dublin [Map]. She was buried at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin [Map].
On or before 6th October 1574 [his daughter] Anne Fitton was born to Edward Fitton [aged 26] and [his wife] Alice Holcroft [aged 34]. She married 30th April 1587 John Newdigate.
On or before 24th June 1578 [his daughter] Mary Fitton was born to Edward Fitton [aged 30] and [his wife] Alice Holcroft [aged 38]. She was baptised on 24th June 1578 at Church of St James, Gawsworth [Map]. She married (1) 1607 Captain William Polwhele (2) after 1610 John Lougher.
In 1579 Edward Fitton [aged 31] was appointed Receiver General for Ireland.
Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses
Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

On 3rd July 1579 [his father] Edward Fitton [aged 52] died at Dublin [Map]. He was buried at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin [Map] on 21st September 1579.
In 1580 Edward Fitton [aged 32] was knighted by William Pelham [aged 52].
On 30th April 1587 [his daughter] Anne Fitton [aged 12] died at Stepney [Map].
On 30th April 1587 [his son-in-law] John Newdigate [aged 17] and [his daughter] Anne Fitton [aged 12] were married at Stepney [Map].
On 3rd September 1587 Edward Fitton [aged 39] passed his patent for 11,515 acres in the counties of Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford; the speculation proved to be not so profitable as he had anticipated, and on 19th December 1588 he wrote to William Cecil 1st Baron Burghley [aged 66] that he was £1,500 out of pocket through it, and begged that his rent might be remitted on account of his father's twenty years' service and his own.
In 1588 Edward Fitton [aged 40] was elected MP Boroughbridge.
Before 1594 [his son] Edward Fitton 1st Baronet [aged 21] and [his daughter-in-law] Anne Barratt [aged 22] were married.
Around 1595 [his daughter] Mary Fitton [aged 16] was appointed Maid of Honour to Queen Elizabeth I of England and Ireland [aged 61]. Her father Edward Fitton [aged 47] recommended her to the care of the married William Knollys 1st Earl Banbury [aged 51] who developed a crush on her to the amusement of the court. In Jan 1599 she left court.
In 4th March 1606 Edward Fitton [aged 58] died. On 5th February 1627 [his wife] Alice Holcroft [aged 66] died. Monument at Church of St James, Gawsworth [Map]. The monument originally stood against the east wall, away from the north wall, with the kneeling figures of the children at each corner. Sir Edward's effigy is lost and there is no record when it was last in situ at Gawsworth. Note the remodelled head of the second son, Richard.
Alice Holcroft: In 1540 she was born to John Holcroft. In or before 1572 Edward Fitton and she were married.
