The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." On or before 3rd November 1738, the date she was baptised at St James' Church, Piccadilly, Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire was born to Vere Bertie (age 26) and Ann Casey.
On 16th May 1757 George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 25) and Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 18) were married at Chislehurst, Kent. He the son of John Hobart 1st Earl Buckinghamshire and Elizabeth Bristow Countess Buckinghamshire.
On 19th April 1759 [her daughter] Albinia Hobart was born to [her husband] George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 27) and Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 20).
On 6th May 1760 [her son] Robert Hobart was born to [her husband] George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 28) and Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 21) at Hampden House, Great Hampden.
In 1761 [her son] George Vere Hobart was born to [her husband] George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 29) and Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 22).
Around 1762 [her daughter] Maria Frances Hobart Countess Guilford was born to [her husband] George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 30) and Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 23).
Around 1762 [her daughter] Henrietta Anne Barbara Hobart was born to [her husband] George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 30) and Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 23).
On 13th September 1768 [her father] Vere Bertie (age 56) died. He was buried at All Saints' Church, Branston [Map].
Vere Bertie: Around 1712 he was born to Robert Bertie 1st Duke Ancaster and Kesteven and Albinia Farington Duchess Ancaster and Kesteven. On 19th March 1729 Vere Bertie was commissioned an ensign in the 2nd Regiment of Foot Guards. He retired in July 1737. On 13th September 1736 or 4th October 1736 Vere Bertie and Ann Casey were married. They had two sons, who died young, and two daughters. He the son of Robert Bertie 1st Duke Ancaster and Kesteven and Albinia Farington Duchess Ancaster and Kesteven. In 1741 Vere Bertie was elected MP Boston.
Before 20th February 1772 [her brother-in-law] John Hobart 2nd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 48) and Caroline Conolly Countess Buckinghamshire were married. She by marriage Countess Buckinghamshire. He the son of John Hobart 1st Earl Buckinghamshire and Judith Britiffe.
In 1774 [her son] Henry Lewis Hobart was born to [her husband] George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 42) and Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 35).
In 1776 [her brother-in-law] John Hobart 2nd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 52) was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. She the daughter of [her husband] George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 54) and Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 46). He the son of Frederick North 2nd Earl Guildford (age 53) and Anne Speke Countess Guilford (age 45). They were fifth cousin once removed.
In 1792 [her son] Robert Hobart (age 31) and [her daughter-in-law] Margaretta Bourke (age 37) were married. He the son of [her husband] George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 60) and Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 53).
On 3rd August 1793 [her brother-in-law] John Hobart 2nd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 69) died. His half brother [her husband] George (age 61) succeeded 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire, 3rd Baron Hobart, 7th Baronet Hobart of Intwood in Norfolk. Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 54) by marriage Countess Buckinghamshire. Harriet Hobart Viscountess Belmore (age 31) inherited Blickling Hall, Norfolk [Map].
On 23rd April 1794 [her daughter] Maria Frances Hobart Countess Guilford (age 32) died.
In 1798 [her daughter] Charlotte Hobart died.
In 1799 [her son] Robert Hobart (age 38) and [her daughter-in-law] Eleanor Eden (age 22) were married. He the son of [her husband] George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 67) and Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 60).
On 5th December 1802 [her son] George Vere Hobart (age 41) died.

On 4th February 1816 [her son] Robert Hobart 4th Earl Buckinghamshire (age 55) died from a fall from a horse. His nephew [her grandson] George (age 26) succeeded 5th Earl Buckinghamshire, 5th Baron Hobart, 9th Baronet Hobart of Intwood in Norfolk. George Hobart-Hampden 5th Earl of Buckinghamshire: On 1st May 1789 he was born to George Vere Hobart. On 1st February 1849 George Hobart-Hampden 5th Earl of Buckinghamshire died. His brother Augustus succeeded 6th Earl Buckinghamshire, 6th Baron Hobart, 10th Baronet Hobart of Intwood in Norfolk.
On 11th March 1816 Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire (age 77) died.
