All About History Books
The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

Around January 1450 [his father] John de la Pole 2nd Duke of Suffolk (age 7) and [his step-mother] Margaret Beaufort Countess Richmond (age 6) were married. The date subject to debate. Papal dispensation was granted on 18 August 1450. Margaret never recognised this marriage, and considered her next husband her first; as confirmed by her 1472 will. She the daughter of John Beaufort 1st Duke of Somerset and Margaret Beauchamp Duchess Somerset (age 40). He the son of [his grandfather] William "Jackanapes" de la Pole 1st Duke of Suffolk (age 53) and [his grandmother] Alice Chaucer Duchess Suffolk (age 46). They were half third cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward I of England. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
In February 1453 [his father] John de la Pole 2nd Duke of Suffolk (age 10) and [his step-mother] Margaret Beaufort Countess Richmond (age 9) marriage annulled.
Before February 1458 [his father] John de la Pole 2nd Duke of Suffolk (age 15) and [his mother] Elizabeth York Duchess Suffolk (age 13) were married. She by marriage Marchioness Suffolk. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Richard Plantagenet 3rd Duke of York (age 46) and [his grandmother] Cecily "Rose of Raby" Neville Duchess York (age 42). He the son of [his grandfather] William "Jackanapes" de la Pole 1st Duke of Suffolk and [his grandmother] Alice Chaucer Duchess Suffolk (age 54). They were half third cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward I of England. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
In 1480 Richard Pole "White Rose" was born to John de la Pole 2nd Duke of Suffolk (age 37) and Elizabeth York Duchess Suffolk (age 35). He a great x 3 grandson of King Edward III of England.
Before 27th October 1492 [his father] John de la Pole 2nd Duke of Suffolk (age 50) died. He was buried at Wingfield, Suffolk. Before 27th October 1492 His son [his brother] Edmund (age 21) succeeded 3rd Duke Suffolk, 3rd Marquess Suffolk, 6th Earl Suffolk, 6th Baron Pole.
Around 1502 [his brother] William Pole (age 24) was imprisoned for allegedly plotting against King Henry VII (age 44) with his brothers [his brother] Edmund (age 31) and Richard (age 22), who fled the country in 1501, after their conspiracy was detected. William Pole remained in prison for thrity-seven years, dying in 1539.
After January 1503 [his mother] Elizabeth York Duchess Suffolk (deceased) died at Wingfield, Suffolk.
On 24th February 1525 Richard Pole "White Rose" (age 45) was killed during the Battle of Pavia. Robert Stewart 4th Lord Aubigny (age 55) fought.
Louis II de la Tremoille (age 64) was killed.

The 'Duc de Susfoc' i.e Duke of Suffolk, being a reference to the title Duke Suffolk held by his brother [his brother] Edmund Pole 3rd Duke of Suffolk who was executed in 1513.
Robert Stewart 4th Lord Aubigny: Robert Stewart 4th Lord Aubigny succeeded 4th Lord Aubigny. Robert Stewart 4th Lord Aubigny and Anne Stewart Lady Aubigny were married. She by marriage Lord Aubigny. He the son of John Stewart 1st Earl Lennox and Margaret Montgomerie Countess Lennox. They were second cousins. Around 1470 he was born to John Stewart 1st Earl Lennox and Margaret Montgomerie Countess Lennox. Around April 1544 Robert Stewart 4th Lord Aubigny died.
Louis II de la Tremoille: On 29th September 1460 he was born to Louis I de la Tremoille.
