On 1st May 1740 [her father] Charles Noel Somerset 4th Duke Beaufort [aged 30] and [her mother] Elizabeth Berkeley Duchess Beaufort [aged 27] were married. He the son of [her grandfather] Henry Somerset 2nd Duke Beaufort and [her grandmother] Rachel Noel Duchess Beaufort.

On 11th March 1741 Anne Somerset Countess Northampton was born to Charles Noel Somerset 4th Duke Beaufort [aged 31] and Elizabeth Berkeley Duchess Beaufort [aged 28].

On 26th February 1745 [her uncle] Henry Somerset 3rd Duke Beaufort [aged 37] died. He was buried at St Michael and all Angels Church, Badminton. His brother [her father] Charles [aged 35] succeeded 4th Duke Beaufort, 6th Marquess Worcester, 10th Earl Worcester, 12th Baron Herbert of Raglan. [her mother] Elizabeth Berkeley Duchess Beaufort [aged 32] by marriage Duchess Beaufort.

On 28th October 1756 [her father] Charles Noel Somerset 4th Duke Beaufort [aged 47] died. He was buried at St Michael and all Angels Church, Badminton. His son [her brother] Henry [aged 12] succeeded 5th Duke Beaufort, 7th Marquess Worcester, 11th Earl Worcester, 13th Baron Herbert of Raglan.

On 6th December 1758 George Compton 6th Earl of Northampton [aged 66] died. His nephew [her future husband] Charles [aged 21] succeeded 7th Earl of Northampton. Anne Somerset Countess Northampton [aged 17] by marriage Countess of Northampton.

On 13th September 1759 Charles Compton 7th Earl of Northampton [aged 22] and Anne Somerset Countess Northampton [aged 18] were married. She the daughter of Charles Noel Somerset 4th Duke Beaufort and Elizabeth Berkeley Duchess Beaufort [aged 46]. They were third cousin once removed.

On 25th June 1760 [her daughter] Elizabeth Compton Countess Burlington was born to [her husband] Charles Compton 7th Earl of Northampton [aged 22] and Anne Somerset Countess Northampton [aged 19] in Compton Wynyates, Warwickshire [Map]. She married 27th February 1782 her fourth cousin George Augustus Henry Cavendish 1st Earl Burlington, son of William Cavendish 4th Duke Devonshire and Charlotte Elizabeth Boyle Marchioness Hartington, and had issue.

William of Worcester's Chronicle of England

William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 18th October 1763 [her former husband] Charles Compton 7th Earl of Northampton [aged 26] died. His brother [her former brother-in-law] Spencer [aged 25] succeeded 8th Earl of Northampton. Jane Lawton Countess Northampton by marriage Countess of Northampton.
