On 10th July 1679 [his father] Charles Paulet 2nd Duke Bolton [aged 18] and Margaret Coventry [aged 22] were married. He the son of [his grandfather] Charles Paulet 1st Duke Bolton [aged 49] and [his grandmother] Mary Scrope 6th Marchioness Winchester. They were third cousins.

On 8th February 1683 [his father] Charles Paulet 2nd Duke Bolton [aged 22] and Frances Ramsden were married. His second marriage. He the son of [his grandfather] Charles Paulet 1st Duke Bolton [aged 53] and [his grandmother] Mary Scrope 6th Marchioness Winchester.

Around 1697 [his father] Charles Paulet 2nd Duke Bolton [aged 36] and [his mother] Henrietta Scott aka Crofts [aged 15] were married. His third marriage. The difference in their ages was 21 years. She the illegitmate daughter of [his grandfather] James Scott 1st Duke Monmouth 1st Duke Buccleuch and [his grandmother] Eleanor Needham. He the son of Charles Paulet 1st Duke Bolton [aged 67] and Mary Scrope 6th Marchioness Winchester.

On 23rd June 1698 Nassau Powlett was born to Charles Paulet 2nd Duke Bolton [aged 37] and Henrietta Scott aka Crofts [aged 16]. He a great grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 27th February 1699 [his grandfather] Charles Paulet 1st Duke Bolton [aged 69] died. His son [his father] Charles [aged 38] succeeded 2nd Duke Bolton, 7th Marquess Winchester, 7th Earl Wiltshire, 7th Baron St John.

In 1713 [his half-brother] Charles Powlett 3rd Duke Bolton [aged 27] and [his sister-in-law] Anne Vaughan Duchess Bolton were married. She the daughter of John Vaughan 3rd Earl Carbery [aged 73] and Anne Savile Countess Carbery. He the son of [his father] Charles Paulet 2nd Duke Bolton [aged 52] and Frances Ramsden. They were fifth cousin once removed.

In 1715 Nassau Powlett [aged 16] joined the army as a Cornet in the 12th Dragoons.

Before 1718 [his half-brother] Harry Powlett 4th Duke Bolton [aged 26] and [his sister-in-law] Catherine Parry were married. He the son of [his father] Charles Paulet 2nd Duke Bolton [aged 56] and Frances Ramsden.

On 22nd June 1720 Nassau Powlett [aged 21] was elected MP Hampshire.

Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough

A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

In 1727 Nassau Powlett [aged 28] was elected MP Lymington.

On 27th February 1730 [his mother] Henrietta Scott aka Crofts [aged 48] died.

In December 1731 Nassau Powlett [aged 33] and Isabella Tufton were married. She the daughter of Thomas Tufton 6th Earl of Thanet and Catherine Cavendish Countess Isle Thanet. He the son of Charles Paulet 2nd Duke Bolton and Henrietta Scott aka Crofts. They were third cousin once removed. He a great grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 3rd August 1734 [his sister-in-law] Margaret Tufton Countess Leicester [aged 34] abeyance terminated 19th Baroness de Clifford when she became the only living descendant of her father.

On 16th May 1736 John Leveson-Gower 1st Earl Gower [aged 41] and [his sister-in-law] Mary Tufton Countess Gower were married. She by marriage Baroness Gower. She the daughter of Thomas Tufton 6th Earl of Thanet and Catherine Cavendish Countess Isle Thanet. They were fourth cousins.

In 1741 Nassau Powlett [aged 42] was elected MP Lymington.

On 24th August 1741 Nassau Powlett [aged 43] died.

Before 10th January 1764 Francis Blake Delaval [aged 36] and [his former wife] Isabella Tufton were married. She the daughter of Thomas Tufton 6th Earl of Thanet and Catherine Cavendish Countess Isle Thanet. They were half sixth cousins.

On 10th January 1764 [his former wife] Isabella Tufton died.

[his daughter] Isabella Powlett Countess Egmont was born to Nassau Powlett and Isabella Tufton. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. She married 4th June 1765 her first cousin once removed John Perceval 3rd Earl Egmont, son of John Perceval 2nd Earl Egmont and Catherine Cecil Countess Egmont, and had issue.
