On 30th August 1598 [his father] Henry Wriothesley 3rd Earl of Southampton [aged 24] and [his mother] Elizabeth Vernon Countess Southampton [aged 26] were married. She by marriage Countess of Southampton. He the son of [his grandfather] Henry Wriothesley 2nd Earl of Southampton and [his grandmother] Mary Browne Countess Southampton [aged 46]. They were third cousin once removed.
On 1st March 1605 James Wriothesley was born to Henry Wriothesley 3rd Earl of Southampton [aged 31] and Elizabeth Vernon Countess Southampton [aged 33].
On 26th March 1605 James Wriothesley was baptised at Chapel Royal, Greenwich.
In 1613 James Wriothesley [aged 7] took custody of at Eton College [Map].
In 1615 [his brother-in-law] William Spencer 2nd Baron Spencer [aged 23] and [his sister] Penelope Wriothesley Baroness Spencer Wormleighton [aged 16] were married. She by marriage Baroness Spencer Wormleighton. She the daughter of [his father] Henry Wriothesley 3rd Earl of Southampton [aged 41] and [his mother] Elizabeth Vernon Countess Southampton [aged 43]. They were fourth cousins.
On 4th November 1616 King Charles I of England, Scotland and Ireland [aged 15] was created Prince of Wales. Robert Radclyffe 5th Earl of Sussex [aged 43] carried the Purple Ermined Robe.
James Wriothesley [aged 11], brothers Robert Howard [aged 32] and William Howard, George Berkeley 8th Baron Berkeley [aged 15], Henry Carey 1st Viscount Falkland [aged 41] and John Cavendish were appointed Knight of the Bath.
In 1619 James Wriothesley [aged 13] entered at St John's College, Cambridge University [Map].
In 1621 James Wriothesley [aged 15] was elected MP Callington.
Autobiography Simon D'Ewes. 22nd June 1621. About Friday the 22nd of this month was Doctor Williams [aged 39], Dean of Westminster, sworn of the Privy Council, after he bad been first made Bishop of Lincoln; and the [his father] Earl of Southampton [aged 47] was committed prisoner to him at his Deanery of Westminster1. For what cause none of his own servants yet knew, from which imprisonment he was again awhile after freed by the mediation of some noble persons with the beloved Marquis of Buckingham [aged 28], whom the issue showed he had only offended, crossing him often during the continuance of Parliament, and answering him shortly since it had been adjourned.
Note 1. "The Earl of Southampton is committed to Dr. Dean of Westminster, his keeper being Sir Richard Weston [aged 44]. The Earl desired three things of the Lords, 1. That in regard his [his mother] lady [aged 49] was much subject unto sudden grief and passion, his letter might be the first messenger of his detainment, 2. That because his son [aged 16] was ready to go to travel, he might first speak with him and give some directions. 3. That he might be permitted, in his Majesty's presence, to answer all that should be objected against him. The two former were granted conditionally, that Sir Richard Weston might see the one and hear the other; which were accordingly performed. The third was not in them to grant, but in his Majesty, and therefore put it off." - HarL MSS,
On 30th December 1623 the fourth Parliament of James I [aged 57] known as the Happy Parliament was summoned.
On 19th February 1624 the Happy Parliament held its first session.

Arthur Lake [aged 25] was elected MP Minehead.
James Wriothesley [aged 18] was elected MP Winchester.
Richard Edgecumbe [aged 53] was elected MP Grampound.
On 5th November 1624 James Wriothesley [aged 19] died of fever at Roosendaal. On 28th December 1624 he was buried at Titchfield, Hampshire [Map].
