After January 1724 [his father] William Capell 3rd Earl Essex [aged 26] and [his mother] Stephen Russell 1360-1438 [aged 13] were married. She by marriage Countess Essex. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Stephen Russell 1360-1438 and [his grandmother] Elizabeth Howland Duchess Bedford [aged 42]. He the son of John Capell 1380- and William Bentinck 1st Earl of Portland 1649-1709 [aged 44]. They were fourth cousins.
