On 5th April 1820 [his father] William Legge 4th Earl Dartmouth [aged 35] and Frances Charlotte Chetwynd-Talbot Countess Dartmouth [aged 18] were married. She by marriage Countess Dartmouth. She the daughter of Charles Chetwynd-Talbot 2nd Earl Talbot [aged 42] and Frances Thomasina Lambart Countess Talbot. He the son of [his grandfather] George Legge 3rd Earl Dartmouth and [his grandmother] Frances Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 59].
On 25th October 1828 [his father] William Legge 4th Earl Dartmouth [aged 43] and [his mother] Frances Barrington Countess Dartmouth were married. She by marriage Countess Dartmouth. He the son of [his grandfather] George Legge 3rd Earl Dartmouth and [his grandmother] Frances Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 67].
On 28th November 1839 Bishop Augustus Legge was born to William Legge 4th Earl Dartmouth [aged 54] and Frances Barrington Countess Dartmouth. He was educated at Eton College [Map] and Christ Church College, Oxford University. He a great x 4 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 9th June 1846 [his half-brother] William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth [aged 22] and [his sister-in-law] Augusta Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 24] were married. She the daughter of Heneage Finch 5th Earl Aylesford [aged 60] and Augusta Sophia Greville Countess Aylesford. He the son of [his father] William Legge 4th Earl Dartmouth [aged 61] and Frances Charlotte Chetwynd-Talbot Countess Dartmouth. They were second cousins.
On 22nd November 1853 [his father] William Legge 4th Earl Dartmouth [aged 68] died. In 1853 His son [his half-brother] William [aged 30] succeeded 5th Earl Dartmouth, 6th Baron Dartmouth. [his sister-in-law] Augusta Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 31] by marriage Countess Dartmouth.
In 1866 Bishop Augustus Legge [aged 26] was appointed Curate of St Mary's Church, Bryanston Square, Marylebone which office he held until 1867.
In 1867 Bishop Augustus Legge [aged 27] was appointed Vicar of St Bartholomew's Church, Sydenham which office he held until 1879.
In 1867 Bishop Augustus Legge [aged 27] was appointed Vicar of St Mary's Church, Sydenham which office he held until 1891; his brother [his half-brother] William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth [aged 43] was Lord of the Manor.
In 1877 Bishop Augustus Legge [aged 37] and Fanny Louisa Stopford Sackville were married. He the son of William Legge 4th Earl Dartmouth and Frances Barrington Countess Dartmouth.
On 4th August 1891 [his half-brother] William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth [aged 67] died. His son [his nephew] William [aged 40] succeeded 6th Earl Dartmouth, 7th Baron Dartmouth.
William of Worcester's Chronicle of England
William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 28th September 1891 Bishop Augustus Legge [aged 51] was confirmed as Bishop of Lichfield at St Mary-le-Bow Church, Cheapside [Map]. He was consecrated Bishop at St Paul's Cathedral [Map] the following day by Archbishop Edward White Benson [aged 62].
On 5th August 1892 St Mary's Church, Rolleston on Dove [Map] was re-opened for Divine Service by Bishop Augustus Legge [aged 52]. The north aisle was built, and the Nave and Chancel re-roofed, wkith money bequeathed by Sophia Anne Mosley, eldest daughter of Oswald Mosley 2nd Baronet.
Sophia Anne Mosley: On 15th October 1806 she was born to Oswald Mosley 2nd Baronet and Sophia Anne Every Lady Mosley. On 29th April 1880 Sophia Anne Mosley died unmarried.
On 23rd December 1911 [his wife] Fanny Louisa Stopford Sackville died.
On 15th March 1913 Bishop Augustus Legge [aged 73] died.
