She by marriage Countess Dartmouth. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Charles Chetwynd-Talbot 2nd Earl Talbot [aged 42] and [his grandmother] Frances Thomasina Lambart Countess Talbot. He the son of George Legge 3rd Earl Dartmouth and Frances Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 59].
On 12th August 1823 William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth was born to William Legge 4th Earl Dartmouth [aged 38] and Frances Charlotte Chetwynd-Talbot Countess Dartmouth [aged 22].
On 4th October 1823 [his mother] Frances Charlotte Chetwynd-Talbot Countess Dartmouth [aged 22] died.
On 25th October 1828 [his father] William Legge 4th Earl Dartmouth [aged 43] and Frances Barrington Countess Dartmouth were married. She by marriage Countess Dartmouth. He the son of [his grandfather] George Legge 3rd Earl Dartmouth and [his grandmother] Frances Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 67].
On 9th June 1846 William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth [aged 22] and Augusta Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 24] were married. She the daughter of Heneage Finch 5th Earl Aylesford [aged 60] and Augusta Sophia Greville Countess Aylesford. He the son of William Legge 4th Earl Dartmouth [aged 61] and Frances Charlotte Chetwynd-Talbot Countess Dartmouth. They were second cousins.
In 1849 William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth [aged 25] was elected MP South Staffordshire.
On 6th May 1851 [his son] William Legge 6th Earl Dartmouth was born to William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth [aged 27] and [his wife] Augusta Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 29]. Coefficient of inbreeding 1.69%. He married 18th December 1879 his half fifth cousin Mary Coke Countess Dartmouth, daughter of Thomas Coke 2nd Earl of Leicester and Juliana Whitbread Countess Leicester, and had issue.
On 9th October 1852 William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth [aged 29] was appointed Deputy Lieutenant Staffordshire.
On 4th November 1852 [his son] Henry Charles Legge was born to William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth [aged 29] and [his wife] Augusta Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 30]. Coefficient of inbreeding 1.69%.
Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough
A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

On 3rd January 1859 [his father-in-law] Heneage Finch 5th Earl Aylesford [aged 72] died. His son [his brother-in-law] Heneage [aged 34] succeeded 6th Earl Aylesford.
On 10th January 1871 [his brother-in-law] Heneage Finch 6th Earl Aylesford [aged 46] died. His son Heneage [aged 22] succeeded 7th Earl Aylesford.
In 1877 [his half-brother] Bishop Augustus Legge [aged 37] and [his sister-in-law] Fanny Louisa Stopford Sackville were married. He the son of [his father] William Legge 4th Earl Dartmouth and Frances Barrington Countess Dartmouth.
On 18th December 1879 William Legge 6th Earl Dartmouth [aged 28] and Mary Coke Countess Dartmouth [aged 30] were married. She by marriage Countess Dartmouth. She the daughter of Thomas Coke 2nd Earl of Leicester [aged 56] and Juliana Whitbread Countess Leicester. He the son of William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth [aged 56] and Augusta Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 57]. They were half fifth cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
In 1887 William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth [aged 63] was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire.
On 4th August 1891 William Legge 5th Earl Dartmouth [aged 67] died. His son William [aged 40] succeeded 6th Earl Dartmouth, 7th Baron Dartmouth.
On 1st December 1900 [his former wife] Augusta Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 78] died.
