Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet 1657-1727

Paternal Family Tree: Stapleton

On 16th December 1650 [his father] Henry Stapylton aka Stapleton 1st Baronet [aged 33] and [his mother] Elizabeth Darcy Lady Stapylton [aged 27] were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Conyers Darcy 1st Earl Holderness [aged 51] and [his grandmother] Grace Rokeby [aged 50]. They were fourth cousin once removed.

In May 1657 Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet was born to Henry Stapylton aka Stapleton 1st Baronet [aged 40] and Elizabeth Darcy Lady Stapylton [aged 33].

On 3rd November 1674 Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet [aged 17] matriculated Christ Church College, Oxford University. He was awarded BA in 1677.

In 1679 Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet [aged 21] was elected MP Aldborough.

On 26th March 1679 [his father] Henry Stapylton aka Stapleton 1st Baronet [aged 62] died. He was buried at St Mary's Merton, Southwark. His son Bryan [aged 21] succeeded 2nd Baronet Stapylton Stapleton of Myton in Yorkshire and inherited Myton Hall, North Yorkshire.

On 15th April 1680 Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet [aged 22] and Anne Kaye Lady Stapylton were married. She by marriage Lady Stapylton Stapleton of Myton in Yorkshire.

Around 1683 [his son] John Stapylton 3rd Baronet was born to Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet [aged 25] and [his wife] Anne Kaye Lady Stapylton. He married 10th February 1707 Mary Sandys Lady Stapylton and had issue.

In 1683 Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet [aged 25] was elected High Sheriff of Yorkshire.

In 1690 Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet [aged 32] was elected MP Boroughbridge.

In 1705 [his son] John Stapylton 3rd Baronet [aged 22] was elected MP Boroughbridge, which his father Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet [aged 47] had represented for twelve of the previous fifteen years.

Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough

A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

On 10th February 1707 John Stapylton 3rd Baronet [aged 24] and Mary Sandys Lady Stapylton [aged 20] were married at Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. They had eight sons and five daughters.

In 1708 Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet [aged 50] was elected MP Boroughbridge replacing his son John Stapylton 3rd Baronet [aged 25].

In 1715 Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet [aged 57] was elected MP Boroughbridge.

In 1729 [his mother] Elizabeth Darcy Lady Stapylton died.

On 23rd November 1729 Bryan Stapylton 2nd Baronet [aged 72] died. His son John [aged 46] succeeded 3rd Baronet Stapylton Stapleton of Myton in Yorkshire. Mary Sandys Lady Stapylton [aged 42] by marriage Lady Stapylton Stapleton of Myton in Yorkshire.
