Aubrey de Vere 10th Earl of Oxford 1338-1400

On 25th July 1316 Robert Fitzpayn 3rd Baron Fitzpayn [aged 16] and [his mother] Maud Badlesmere Countess of Oxford [aged 8] were married.

In 1336 [his father] John de Vere 7th Earl of Oxford [aged 23] and [his mother] Maud Badlesmere Countess of Oxford [aged 27] were married. She by marriage Countess of Oxford. They were third cousin twice removed. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

Around 1338 Aubrey de Vere 10th Earl of Oxford was born to John de Vere 7th Earl of Oxford [aged 25] and Maud Badlesmere Countess of Oxford [aged 29].

On 7th June 1338 [his uncle] Giles Badlesmere 2nd Baron Badlesmere [aged 23] died. Baron Badlesmere abeyant between his sisters [his aunt] Margery Badlesmere Baroness Ros of Helmsley [aged 29], [his mother] Maud Badlesmere Countess of Oxford [aged 29], Elizabeth Badlesmere Countess Northampton [aged 25] and Margaret Badlesmere Baroness Tibetot [aged 23].

On 24th January 1360 [his father] John de Vere 7th Earl of Oxford [aged 47] died. He was buried at Colne Priory, Essex [Map]. His succeeded son [his brother] Thomas de Vere 8th Earl of Oxford [aged 24] succeeded 8th Earl of Oxford.

Before 1361 [his brother-in-law] Henry Beaumont 3rd Baron Beaumont [aged 20] and [his sister] Margaret Vere Baroness Devereux and Beaumont were married. Margaret Vere Baroness Devereux and Beaumont by marriage Baroness Beaumont. She the daughter of [his father] John de Vere 7th Earl of Oxford and [his mother] Maud Badlesmere Countess of Oxford [aged 52]. He the son of John Beaumont 2nd Baron Beaumont and Eleanor Plantagenet Countess Arundel and Surrey [aged 42]. They were fourth cousin once removed. He a great x 2 grandson of King Henry III of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

Before 16th January 1362 [his brother] Thomas de Vere 8th Earl of Oxford [aged 26] and [his sister-in-law] Maud Ufford Countess of Oxford [aged 17] were married. Maud Ufford Countess of Oxford by marriage Countess of Oxford. She the daughter of Ralph Ufford and Maud Plantagenet Countess Ulster [aged 52]. He the son of [his father] John de Vere 7th Earl of Oxford and [his mother] Maud Badlesmere Countess of Oxford [aged 53]. They were half fifth cousin once removed. He a great x 5 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Henry III of England.

On 24th May 1366 [his mother] Maud Badlesmere Countess of Oxford [aged 57] died.

In September 1371 [his brother] Thomas de Vere 8th Earl of Oxford [aged 35] died. His succeeded son [his nephew] Robert [aged 9] succeeded 9th Earl of Oxford.

In 1375 Aubrey de Vere 10th Earl of Oxford [aged 37] was appointed Constable of Wallingford Castle.

In 1377 [his brother-in-law] John Devereux 1st Baron Devereux [aged 40] and [his sister] Margaret Vere Baroness Devereux and Beaumont were married. She the daughter of [his father] John de Vere 7th Earl of Oxford and [his mother] Maud Badlesmere Countess of Oxford. They were fifth cousins. He a great x 4 grandson of King John of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

In 1381 Aubrey de Vere 10th Earl of Oxford [aged 43] was appointed Privy Council.

On 28th September 1384 [his brother-in-law] John Devereux 1st Baron Devereux [aged 47] was created 1st Baron Devereux. [his sister] Margaret Vere Baroness Devereux and Beaumont by marriage Baroness Devereux.

Before 15th August 1385 Aubrey de Vere 10th Earl of Oxford [aged 47] and Alice Fitzwalter Countess of Oxford were married. Alice Fitzwalter Countess of Oxford by marriage Countess of Oxford. He the son of John de Vere 7th Earl of Oxford and Maud Badlesmere Countess of Oxford. They were second cousin once removed. He a great x 5 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

On 15th August 1385 [his son] Richard de Vere 11th Earl of Oxford was born to Aubrey de Vere 10th Earl of Oxford [aged 47] and [his wife] Alice Fitzwalter Countess of Oxford. He married (1) before 1399 his fifth cousin Alice Holland Countess of Oxford, daughter of John Holland 1st Duke Exeter and Elizabeth Lancaster Duchess Exeter (2) 1406 Alice Sergeaux Countess Oxford and had issue.

On 22nd November 1392 [his nephew] Robert de Vere 1st Duke Ireland [aged 30] was killed whilst hunting at Louvain [Map]. His succeeded uncle Aubrey [aged 54] succeeded 10th Earl of Oxford.

Froissart Book 4 Chapter 88. These were the plans that had been concerted by many of the English, particularly the Londoners, for they hated the king [aged 29], and several now repented they had checked the mobs which attacked London from the different counties of England; for they had determined, according to their confessions when put to death, to murder the king, the earl of Salisbury [aged 46], the earl of Oxford [aged 58], and the whole of the king's council. Had this been done, the kingdom would soon have found another head; and the citizens, with the consent of the country, and the aid of the duke of Gloucester (who took great pains to excite trouble and confusion), would have selected a fit person to wear the crown, and placed the government and kingdom in a different state to what it then was. Such were the secret murmurings of the citizens, and others of their party, in their private meetings, the whole of which was told to the king by his spy; and greater blame was laid on the duke of Gloucester for all this business than on any other person.

On 16th June 1398 [his sister] Margaret Vere Baroness Devereux and Beaumont died.

Before 1399 Richard de Vere 11th Earl of Oxford [aged 13] and Alice Holland Countess of Oxford [aged 6] were married. She the daughter of John Holland 1st Duke Exeter [aged 46] and Elizabeth Lancaster Duchess Exeter [aged 35]. He the son of Aubrey de Vere 10th Earl of Oxford [aged 60] and Alice Fitzwalter Countess of Oxford. They were fifth cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. She a great granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

On 15th February 1400 Aubrey de Vere 10th Earl of Oxford [aged 62] died. His succeeded son Richard [aged 14] succeeded 11th Earl of Oxford. Alice Holland Countess of Oxford [aged 8] by marriage Countess of Oxford.

In 1401 [his former wife] Alice Fitzwalter Countess of Oxford died.
