Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester 1876-1956

On 2nd October 1875 Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 23] and Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 19] were married at Alton, Cheadle, Staffordshire. She the daughter of [her grandfather] Charles Chetwynd-Talbot 19th Earl of Shrewsbury 4th Earl Talbot [aged 45] and [her grandmother] Anna Theresa Cockerell Countess Shrewsbury and Waterford [aged 39]. He the son of George Henry Vane-Tempest 5th Marquess Londonderry [aged 54] and Mary Cornelia Edwards Marchioness Londonderry [aged 46].

On 8th September 1876 Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester was born to Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 24] and Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 20].

On 6th November 1884 [her grandfather] George Henry Vane-Tempest 5th Marquess Londonderry [aged 63] died. His son Charles [aged 32] succeeded 6th Marquess Londonderry. Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 28] by marriage Marchioness Londonderry.

On 28th November 1899 Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 21] and Edith Chaplin Marchioness Londonderry [aged 20] were married. He the son of [her father] Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 47] and [her mother] Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 43].

On 25th January 1902 Giles Fox-Strangways 6th Earl of Ilchester [aged 27] and Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester [aged 25] were married. She the daughter of Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 49] and Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 45]. He the son of Henry Edward Fox-Strangways 5th Earl of Ilchester [aged 54].

On 1st October 1905 [her son] Edward Fox-Strangways 7th Earl of Ilchester was born to [her husband] Giles Fox-Strangways 6th Earl of Ilchester [aged 31] and Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester [aged 29]. He married 27th April 1931 Helen Elizabeth Fox-Strangways Countess Ilchester.

On 6th December 1905 [her father-in-law] Henry Edward Fox-Strangways 5th Earl of Ilchester [aged 58] died. His son Giles [aged 31] succeeded 6th Earl Ilchester, 6th Baron Ilchester and Stavordale of Redlynch in Somerset, 6th Baron Strangways of Woodford in Dorset, 6th Baron Ilchester of Ilchester in Somerset. Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester [aged 29] by marriage Countess Ilchester.

On 8th February 1915 Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 62] died. His son Charles [aged 36] succeeded 7th Marquess Londonderry. Memorial at St Mary's Church, Long Newton [Map].

9th February 1915. Times Newspaper Obituaries. The news of the death of the Marquess of Londonderry [deceased], which occurred at Wynyard, Stockton-on-Tees, yesterday morning, will be received with profound regret far beyond the circle of his personal friends or of the members of the Unionist Party. Lord Londonderry had not been entirely well for some little time past. For a fortnight, it seems, he had been suffering from sciatica. Last week he caught a chill, from which pneumonia developed. On Sunday his condition was seen to be critical. During the night he collapsed, and the end came at 9.30 yesterday morning. Lady Londonderry [aged 58], who had been in constant attendance on him during his illness, was present at the last, as also were Lady Ilchester [aged 38] and Lord Herbert Vane-Tempest [aged 52].

On 17th February 1918 [her daughter] Mabel Edith Fox-Strangways Viscountess Wimborne was born to [her husband] Giles Fox-Strangways 6th Earl of Ilchester [aged 43] and Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester [aged 41]. She married 22nd November 1938 her third cousin Ivor Grosvenor Guest 2nd Viscount Wimborne, son of Ivor Churchill Guest 1st Viscount Wimborne and Alice Katherine Sibell Grosvenor, and had issue.

On 16th March 1919 Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 62] died. Memorial at St Mary's Church, Long Newton [Map].

On 27th April 1931 Edward Fox-Strangways 7th Earl of Ilchester [aged 25] and Helen Elizabeth Fox-Strangways Countess Ilchester were married. He the son of Giles Fox-Strangways 6th Earl of Ilchester [aged 56] and Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester [aged 54].

On 22nd November 1938 [her son-in-law] Ivor Grosvenor Guest 2nd Viscount Wimborne [aged 35] and Mabel Edith Fox-Strangways Viscountess Wimborne [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of Giles Fox-Strangways 6th Earl of Ilchester [aged 64] and Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester [aged 62]. They were third cousins.

On 11th February 1949 Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 70] died. His son Edward [aged 46] succeeded 8th Marquess Londonderry. Romaine Combe Marchioness of Londonderry [aged 44] by marriage Marchioness Londonderry.

On 14th January 1956 Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester [aged 79] died.
