Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry 1878-1949

On 2nd October 1875 Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 23] and Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 19] were married at Alton, Cheadle, Staffordshire. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Charles Chetwynd-Talbot 19th Earl of Shrewsbury 4th Earl Talbot [aged 45] and [his grandmother] Anna Theresa Cockerell Countess Shrewsbury and Waterford [aged 39]. He the son of George Henry Vane-Tempest 5th Marquess Londonderry [aged 54] and Mary Cornelia Edwards Marchioness Londonderry [aged 46].

On 13th May 1878 Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry was born to Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 25] and Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 21].

On 6th November 1884 [his grandfather] George Henry Vane-Tempest 5th Marquess Londonderry [aged 63] died. His son Charles [aged 32] succeeded 6th Marquess Londonderry. Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 28] by marriage Marchioness Londonderry.

On 28th November 1899 Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 21] and Edith Chaplin Marchioness Londonderry [aged 20] were married. He the son of Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 47] and Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 43].

In 1900 [his illegitimate daughter] Dorothé Mabel Lewis was born illegitimately to Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 21] and Fanny Ward aka Buchanan [aged 27].

On 25th January 1902 [his brother-in-law] Giles Fox-Strangways 6th Earl of Ilchester [aged 27] and Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester [aged 25] were married. She the daughter of [his father] Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 49] and [his mother] Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 45]. He the son of Henry Edward Fox-Strangways 5th Earl of Ilchester [aged 54].

On 19th November 1902 [his son] Edward Vane-Tempest-Stewart 8th Marquess of Londonderry was born to Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 24] and Edith Chaplin Marchioness Londonderry [aged 23]. He married 31st October 1931 Romaine Combe Marchioness of Londonderry and had issue.

On 6th December 1905 Henry Edward Fox-Strangways 5th Earl of Ilchester [aged 58] died. His son Giles [aged 31] succeeded 6th Earl Ilchester, 6th Baron Ilchester and Stavordale of Redlynch in Somerset, 6th Baron Strangways of Woodford in Dorset, 6th Baron Ilchester of Ilchester in Somerset. Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester [aged 29] by marriage Countess Ilchester.

In 1911 [his daughter] Helen Maglona Vane-Tempest-Stewart was born to Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 32] and Edith Chaplin Marchioness Londonderry [aged 32]. She married 1935 Edward Jessel 2nd Baronet Jessel, son of Herbet Merton Jessel 1st Baron Jessel.

On 8th February 1915 Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 62] died. His son Charles [aged 36] succeeded 7th Marquess Londonderry. Memorial at St Mary's Church, Long Newton [Map].

In 1919 Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 40] was appointed 861st Knight of the Garter.

On 16th March 1919 Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 62] died. Memorial at St Mary's Church, Long Newton [Map].

On 25th March 1921 [his daughter] Mary Elizabeth "Mairi" Bury Vane-Tempest-Stewart was born to Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 42] and Edith Chaplin Marchioness Londonderry [aged 42]. She married 10th December 1940 Derek Keppel, son of Walter Keppel 9th Earl Albermarle and Judith Sydney Myee Wynn-Carington, and had issue.

On 4th December 1922 [his son-in-law] Terence Plunket 6th Baron Plunket [aged 23] and [his illegitimate daughter] Dorothé Mabel Lewis [aged 22] were married at Denham, Buckinghamshire. She the illegitmate daughter of Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 44] and Fanny Ward aka Buchanan [aged 50].

Terence Plunket 6th Baron Plunket: On 12th July 1899 he was born to William Plunket 5th Baron Plunket and Victoria Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood Baroness Plunket. On 24th January 1920 William Plunket 5th Baron Plunket died. His son Terence succeeded 6th Baron Plunket of Newtown in County Cork. On 24th February 1938 husband and wife Terence Plunket 6th Baron Plunket and Dorothé Mabel Lewis died in a plane crash. They were bound for the Hearst ranch at San Simeon, now known as Hearst Castle. In the coastal fog surrounding the airstrip on the ranch, the pilot overshot the field by nearly a mile and a half. One wing struck the ground, causing the plane to burst into flames and crash. James Lawrence was the only survivor, having been thrown clear of the plane. He suffered burns and a broken ankle. Her son Patrick succeeded 7th Baron Plunket of Newtown in County Cork. Their children were subsequently were raised by Lord Plunket's sister, The Helen Rhodes, and her husband, Arthur Rhodes.

On 31st October 1931 Edward Vane-Tempest-Stewart 8th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 28] and Romaine Combe Marchioness of Londonderry [aged 27] were married at St Martin in the Fields Church [Map]. He the son of Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 53] and Edith Chaplin Marchioness Londonderry [aged 52].

On 23rd April 1959 Edith Chaplin Marchioness Londonderry [aged 80] died.
