They were fifth cousins.
On 10th June 1866 John Douglas-Scott-Montagu 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu was born to Henry John Montagu-Douglas-Scott 1st Baron Montagu Beaulieu [aged 30] and Cecily Susan Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie Baroness Montagu.
On 29th December 1885 [his father] Henry John Montagu-Douglas-Scott 1st Baron Montagu Beaulieu [aged 50] was created 1st Baron Montagu of Beaulieu. [his mother] Cecily Susan Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie Baroness Montagu by marriage Baroness Montagu of Beaulieu.

On 17th January 1900 [his father-in-law] Schomberg Henry Kerr Kerr 9th Marquess Lothian [aged 66] died. His daughter [his sister-in-law] Robert succeeded 10th Marchioness Lothian, 12th Countess Lothian, 10th Countess Lothian.
On 5th April 1903 [his illegitimate daughter] Joan Douglas-Scott-Montagu was born illegitimately to John Douglas-Scott-Montagu 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu [aged 36] and Eleanor Thornton [aged 22].
On 4th November 1905 [his father] Henry John Montagu-Douglas-Scott 1st Baron Montagu Beaulieu [aged 70] died. His son John [aged 39] succeeded 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu. [his wife] Cecil Victoria Kerr Baroness Montagu of Beaulieu [aged 39] by marriage Baroness Montagu of Beaulieu.

Around 1910 Eleanor Thornton [aged 29] is believed to be the model for the Spirit of Ecstasy Roll's Royce mascot sculpted by Charles Robinson Sykes [aged 34] for John Douglas-Scott-Montagu 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu [aged 43].
On 2nd May 1915 [his mother] Cecily Susan Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie Baroness Montagu died.
On 30th December 1915 the SS Persia was torpedoed near Crete without warning by the German U-boat U-38, commanded by Max Valentiner. It sank in five to ten minutes, killing 343 of the 519 aboard.
John Douglas-Scott-Montagu 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu [aged 49] survived. His mistress Eleanor Thornton [aged 35] drowned.

On 4th October 1921 [his daughter] Anne Rachel Pearl Douglas-Scott-Montagu was born to John Douglas-Scott-Montagu 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu [aged 55] and [his wife] Alice Pearl Crake Baroness Montagu [aged 26]. She married 1. 2nd March 1946 Howel Joseph Moore-Gwyn 2. 23rd May 1950 Edward John Chichester 11th Baronet, son of Edward George Chichester 10th Baronet, and had issue.
On 13th February 1925 [his daughter] Caroline Cecily Douglas-Scott-Montagu was born to John Douglas-Scott-Montagu 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu [aged 58] and [his wife] Alice Pearl Crake Baroness Montagu [aged 30]. She married 15th February 1950 George Grainger Weston.
On 20th October 1926 [his son] Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu 3rd Baron Montagu was born to John Douglas-Scott-Montagu 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu [aged 60] and [his wife] Alice Pearl Crake Baroness Montagu [aged 31]. He married 1958 Belinda Crossley Baroness Montagu and had issue.
On 30th March 1929 John Douglas-Scott-Montagu 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu [aged 62] died. His son Edward [aged 2] succeeded 3rd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu.
After 30th March 1929 Captain Edward Pleydell-Bouverie [aged 29] and [his former wife] Alice Pearl Crake Baroness Montagu [aged 34] were married. He the son of Jacob Pleydell-Bouverie 6th Earl Radnor [aged 60] and Julian Eleanor Adelaide Balfour.
On 10th April 1996 [his former wife] Alice Pearl Crake Baroness Montagu died.
