On 17th April 1694 [his father] Charles Beauclerk 1st Duke St Albans [aged 23] and [his mother] Diana Vere Duchess St Albans [aged 15] were married. She by marriage Duchess St Albans. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Aubrey de Vere 20th Earl of Oxford [aged 67] and [his grandmother] Diana Kirke Countess of Oxford. He the illegitmate son of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland and Nell Gwyn.

On 14th July 1699 Vere Beauclerk 1st Baron de Vere was born to Charles Beauclerk 1st Duke St Albans [aged 29] and Diana Vere Duchess St Albans [aged 20]. He a grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 13th December 1722 [his brother] Charles Beauclerk 2nd Duke St Albans [aged 26] and [his sister-in-law] Lucy Werden Duchess St Albans [aged 23] were married. He the son of [his father] Charles Beauclerk 1st Duke St Albans [aged 52] and [his mother] Diana Vere Duchess St Albans [aged 43].

On 10th May 1726 [his father] Charles Beauclerk 1st Duke St Albans [aged 56] died at Bath, Somerset [Map]. He was buried at Westminster Abbey [Map]. His son [his brother] Charles [aged 30] succeeded 2nd Duke St Albans, 2nd Earl Burford, 2nd Baron Heddington. [his sister-in-law] Lucy Werden Duchess St Albans [aged 27] by marriage Duchess St Albans.

In 1733 Vere Beauclerk 1st Baron de Vere [aged 33] was elected MP Windsor.

On 13th April 1736 Vere Beauclerk 1st Baron de Vere [aged 36] and Mary Chambers Baroness Spencer [aged 22] were married. She by marriage Baroness Vere of Hanworth in Middlesex. He the son of Charles Beauclerk 1st Duke St Albans and Diana Vere Duchess St Albans [aged 57].

Before 12th January 1737 Vere Beauclerk 1st Baron de Vere [aged 37] was created 1st Baron Vere of Hanworth in Middlesex.

On 12th January 1737 [his son] Vere Beauclerk was born to Vere Beauclerk 1st Baron de Vere [aged 37] and [his wife] Mary Chambers Baroness Spencer [aged 23]. He a great grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. He died aged two in 1739.

On 9th May 1737 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple [aged 25] and [his sister-in-law] Anne Chamber Countess Temple were married. He the son of Richard Granville and Hester Temple 1st Countess Temple [aged 47].

On 22nd February 1738 [his son] Chambers Beauclerk was born to Vere Beauclerk 1st Baron de Vere [aged 38] and [his wife] Mary Chambers Baroness Spencer [aged 24]. He a great grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. He died aged nine in 1747.

In 1739 Charles Fitzroy 2nd Duke Grafton [aged 55] supported the creation of the Foundling Hospital. He sat on that charity's original Court of Governors with such fellow Governors as John Russell, 4th Duke of Bedford [aged 28], Vere Beauclerk, 1st Baron Vere [aged 39], and Micajah Perry, a Lord Mayor of London.

Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses

Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

On 12th April 1739 [his son] Sackville Beauclerk was born to Vere Beauclerk 1st Baron de Vere [aged 39] and [his wife] Mary Chambers Baroness Spencer [aged 25]. He a great grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. He died aged less than one years old.

On 25th April 1739 [his son] Sackville Beauclerk died.

On 26th December 1739 [his son] Vere Beauclerk [aged 2] died.

On 3rd June 1740 [his son] Aubrey Beauclerk 5th Duke St Albans was born to Vere Beauclerk 1st Baron de Vere [aged 40] and [his wife] Mary Chambers Baroness Spencer [aged 26]. He a great grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. He married 4th May 1763 Catherine Ponsonby Duchess St Albans, daughter of William Ponsonby 2nd Earl Bessborough and Caroline Cavendish Countess Bessborough, and had issue.

On 15th January 1742 [his mother] Diana Vere Duchess St Albans [aged 63] died.

In July 1742 [his daughter] Elizabeth Beauclerk died.

On 4th December 1743 [his daughter] Mary Beauclerk was born to Vere Beauclerk 1st Baron de Vere [aged 44] and [his wife] Mary Chambers Baroness Spencer [aged 29]. She a great granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. She married 2nd October 1762 Charles Spencer, son of Charles Spencer 3rd Duke of Marlborough and Elizabeth Trevor Duchess of Marlborough, and had issue.

On 16th July 1747 [his son] Chambers Beauclerk [aged 9] died.

On 27th July 1751 [his brother] Charles Beauclerk 2nd Duke St Albans [aged 55] died. He was buried at Westminster Abbey [Map]. His son [his nephew] George [aged 21] succeeded 3rd Duke St Albans, 3rd Earl Burford, 3rd Baron Heddington.

In 1752 Hester Temple 1st Countess Temple [aged 62] died. Her son Richard [aged 40] succeeded 2nd Earl Temple, 3rd Viscount Cobham. [his sister-in-law] Anne Chamber Countess Temple by marriage Countess Temple.

On 2nd October 1762 [his son-in-law] Charles Spencer [aged 22] and [his daughter] Mary Beauclerk [aged 18] were married. He the son of Charles Spencer 3rd Duke of Marlborough and Elizabeth Trevor Duchess of Marlborough.

Abbot John Whethamstede’s Chronicle of the Abbey of St Albans

Abbot John Whethamstede's Register aka Chronicle of his second term at the Abbey of St Albans, 1451-1461, is a remarkable text that describes his first-hand experience of the beginning of the Wars of the Roses including the First and Second Battles of St Albans, 1455 and 1461, respectively, their cause, and their consequences, not least on the Abbey itself. His text also includes Loveday, Blore Heath, Northampton, the Act of Accord, Wakefield, and Towton, and ends with the Coronation of King Edward IV. In addition to the events of the Wars of the Roses, Abbot John, or his scribes who wrote the Chronicle, include details in the life of the Abbey such as charters, letters, land exchanges, visits by legates, and disputes, which provide a rich insight into the day-to-day life of the Abbey, and the challenges faced by its Abbot.

On 4th May 1763 [his son] Aubrey Beauclerk 5th Duke St Albans [aged 22] and [his daughter-in-law] Catherine Ponsonby Duchess St Albans [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of William Ponsonby 2nd Earl Bessborough [aged 59] and Caroline Cavendish Countess Bessborough.

On 7th April 1777 [his sister-in-law] Anne Chamber Countess Temple died.

On 21st October 1781 Vere Beauclerk 1st Baron de Vere [aged 82] died. His son Aubrey [aged 41] succeeded 2nd Baron Vere of Hanworth in Middlesex.

On 21st January 1783 [his former wife] Mary Chambers Baroness Spencer [aged 69] died.

[his daughter] Elizabeth Beauclerk was born to Vere Beauclerk 1st Baron de Vere and Mary Chambers Baroness Spencer. She a great granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
