Abbot John Whethamstede’s Chronicle of the Abbey of St Albans
Abbot John Whethamstede's Register aka Chronicle of his second term at the Abbey of St Albans, 1451-1461, is a remarkable text that describes his first-hand experience of the beginning of the Wars of the Roses including the First and Second Battles of St Albans, 1455 and 1461, respectively, their cause, and their consequences, not least on the Abbey itself. His text also includes Loveday, Blore Heath, Northampton, the Act of Accord, Wakefield, and Towton, and ends with the Coronation of King Edward IV. In addition to the events of the Wars of the Roses, Abbot John, or his scribes who wrote the Chronicle, include details in the life of the Abbey such as charters, letters, land exchanges, visits by legates, and disputes, which provide a rich insight into the day-to-day life of the Abbey, and the challenges faced by its Abbot.

On 26th June 1580 [his wife] Jane Sibella Morrison Baroness Grey Wilton [aged 30] died.
Before 25th August 1580 Arthur Grey 14th Baron Grey of Wilton [aged 44] was appointed Lord Deputy of Ireland.
On 25th August 1580 the Irish forces ambushed the forces of Arthur Grey 14th Baron Grey of Wilton [aged 44] at the Battle of Glenmalure fought at Glenmalure, County Wicklow. Around 800 English soldiers, including, Peter Carew were killed.

The age cames seems somewhat surprising although it wouldn't be the first time a younger man married and older woman to aquire her wealth. The difference in their ages was 39 years; she, unusually, being older than him. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Charles Somerset 1st Earl of Worcester and [his grandmother] Elizabeth West.
[his daughter] Bridget Grey Lady Egerton and Oulton was born to Arthur Grey 14th Baron Grey of Wilton and Jane Sibella Morrison Baroness Grey Wilton. She married 1609 Roland Egerton 1st Baronet and had issue.
[his son] William Grey was born to Arthur Grey 14th Baron Grey of Wilton and Jane Sibella Morrison Baroness Grey Wilton.
Henry Russell and Jane Sibella Morrison Baroness Grey Wilton were married. She the daughter of Richard Morrison and Bridget Hussey Countess Bedford. He the son of Francis Russell 2nd Earl Bedford and Margaret St John Countess Bedford.
