On 22nd June 1801 [his father] George Percy 5th Duke Northumberland [aged 23] and [his mother] Louisa Harcourt Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie [aged 19] were married. He the son of [his grandfather] Algernon Percy 1st Earl Beverley [aged 51] and [his grandmother] Isabella Susan Burrell Countess Beverley [aged 50]. They were fifth cousin once removed.
On 22nd August 1817 Henry Hugh Manvers Percy was born to George Percy 5th Duke Northumberland [aged 39] and Louisa Harcourt Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie [aged 35] at Burwood House, Cobham. He was educated at Eton College [Map].
On 21st October 1830 [his grandfather] Algernon Percy 1st Earl Beverley [aged 80] died. His son [his father] George [aged 52] succeeded 2nd Earl Beverley.
On 1st July 1836 Henry Hugh Manvers Percy [aged 18] joined the British Army as an ensign in the Grenadier Guards.
In 1845 [his brother] Algernon George Percy 6th Duke Northumberland [aged 34] and [his sister-in-law] Louisa Drummond Duchess Northumberland were married. He the son of [his father] George Percy 5th Duke Northumberland [aged 66] and [his mother] Louisa Harcourt Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie [aged 63].
On 31st January 1848 [his mother] Louisa Harcourt Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie [aged 66] died.
On 20th September 1854 Charles Pierrepont Darcy Lane-Fox [aged 24] was wounded, Poulett George Henry Somerset [aged 32] fought.
Major-General John Douglas [aged 37] commanded the 79th Regiment of Foot.
William Frederick Waldegrave [aged 38] died from wounds received.
Henry Hugh Manvers Percy [aged 37] was shot through the arm.
General George Augustus Frederick Paget [aged 36], Godfrey Morgan 1st Viscount Tredegar [aged 23] and Hedworth Jolliffe 2nd Baron Hylton [aged 25] fought.
Arthur Williams-Wynn [aged 35], Captain of the 23rd Royal Welsh Fusiliers, was killed.
On 25th October 1854 Poulett George Henry Somerset [aged 32] and William Archer Amherst 3rd Earl Amherst [aged 18] fought.
Major-General John Douglas [aged 37] commanded the 79th Regiment of Foot.
General George Augustus Frederick Paget [aged 36] and Henry Hugh Manvers Percy [aged 37] fought.
On 23rd July 1855 Edward Fitz-Clarence [aged 18] was killed at the Siege of Sevastopol.

The Queen [aged 37] has been graciously pleased to signify Her intention to confer the Decoration of the Victoria Cross on the undermentioned Officers of Her Majesty's Army, who have been recommended to Her Majesty for that Decoration,—in accordance with the rules laid down in Her Majesty's Warrant of the 29th of January, 1856,—on account of acts of bravery performed by them before the Enemy during the late War, as recorded against their several names; viz.

At a moment when the Guards were at some distance from the Sand Bag Battery, at the Battle of Inkerman, Colonel Percy charged singly into the battery, followed immediately by the Guards; the embrasures of the battery, as also the parapet, were held by the Russians, who kept up a most severe fire of musketry.
At the Battle of Inkerman Colonel Percy, found himself with many men of various regiments, who had charged too far, nearly surrounded by the Russians, and without ammunition. Colonel Percy, by his knowledge of ground, though wounded, extricated these men, and, passing under a heavy fire from the Russians then in the Sand Bag Battery, brought them safe to where ammunition was to be obtained, thereby saving some fifty men, and enabling them to renew the combat. He received the approval of His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge, for this action, on the spot.—Colonel Percy was engaged with, and put hors de combat, a Russian soldier.
On 26th June 1857 the first sixty-two recipients of the Victoria Cross had the decoration pinned to their breasts by Queen Victoria [aged 38] in Hyde Park [Map]. Henry Hugh Manvers Percy [aged 39], who was the most senior office present to receive the Victoria Cross, commanded on the day.
In 1865 Henry Hugh Manvers Percy [aged 47] was elected MP Northumberland North which seat he held until 1868.
On 12th February 1865 Algernon Percy 4th Duke Northumberland [aged 72] died without issue. His first cousin [his father] George [aged 86] succeeded 5th Duke Northumberland, 8th Baronet Smithson of Stanwick in Yorkshire. His great nephew John [aged 24] succeeded 6th Baron Percy. Baron Lovain extinct.
On 22nd August 1867 [his father] George Percy 5th Duke Northumberland [aged 89] died. His son [his brother] Algernon [aged 57] succeeded 6th Duke Northumberland, 3rd Earl Beverley, 9th Baronet Smithson of Stanwick in Yorkshire. [his sister-in-law] Louisa Drummond Duchess Northumberland by marriage Duchess Northumberland.
On 24th May 1873 Henry Hugh Manvers Percy [aged 55] was appointed Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath.

On 3rd December 1877 Henry Hugh Manvers Percy [aged 60] died unmarried at his home 40 Eaton Square, Belgravia, unmarried. He was buried on 7th December 1877 in the Percy faily vault in the Chapel of St Nicholas, Westminster Abbey [Map].
