On 16th September 1746 George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke was born to Francis Greville 1st Earl Brooke Warwick Castle 1st Earl Warwick [aged 26] and Elizabeth Hamilton Countess Brooke Warwick Castle and Warwick [aged 26].
On 10th October 1746 George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke was baptised at St Mary's Church, Warwick [Map]. His godfather was King George II of Great Britain and Ireland [aged 62].
In 1753 George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke [aged 6] educated at Eton College [Map].
On 24th September 1764 George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke [aged 18] began his education at Christ Church College, Oxford University.
On 17th December 1767 George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke [aged 21] was elected Fellow of the Royal Society.
In 1768 George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke [aged 21] was elected MP Warwick.
On 1st April 1771 George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke [aged 24] and Georgiana Peachey were married at St George's Church, Hanover Square. He the son of Francis Greville 1st Earl Brooke Warwick Castle 1st Earl Warwick [aged 51] and Elizabeth Hamilton Countess Brooke Warwick Castle and Warwick [aged 51]. They were fifth cousin once removed. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 25th March 1772 [his son] George Greville was born to George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke [aged 25] and [his wife] Georgiana Peachey. His mother died from childbirth a few days later on 3rd April 1772. He a great x 3 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 8th July 1773 [his father] Francis Greville 1st Earl Brooke Warwick Castle 1st Earl Warwick [aged 53] died. His son George [aged 26] succeeded 2nd Earl Warwick, 2nd Earl Brooke Warwick Castle, 9th Baron Brooke of Beauchamps Court in Warwickshire.
On 14th July 1776 George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke [aged 29] and Henrietta Vernon Countess Warwick and Brooke [aged 15] were married at Whitehall Palace [Map]. She by marriage Countess Warwick, Countess Brooke Warwick Castle. She the daughter of Richard Vernon [aged 50] and Evelyn Leveson-Gower Countess Upper Ossory. He the son of Francis Greville 1st Earl Brooke Warwick Castle 1st Earl Warwick and Elizabeth Hamilton Countess Brooke Warwick Castle and Warwick [aged 56]. They were fourth cousin once removed.
On 29th March 1779 [his son] Henry Greville 3rd Earl Warwick 3rd Earl Brooke Warwick Castle was born to George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke [aged 32] and [his wife] Henrietta Vernon Countess Warwick and Brooke [aged 18]. He married 1816 Sarah Elizabeth Savile Countess Warwick, daughter of John Savile 2nd Earl Mexborough and Elizabeth Stephenson Countess Mexborough, and had issue.
This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

On 24th February 1800 [his mother] Elizabeth Hamilton Countess Brooke Warwick Castle and Warwick [aged 80] died.
In 1816 Henry Greville 3rd Earl Warwick 3rd Earl Brooke Warwick Castle [aged 36] and Sarah Elizabeth Savile Countess Warwick [aged 29] were married. She by marriage Countess Warwick. She the daughter of John Savile 2nd Earl Mexborough [aged 54] and Elizabeth Stephenson Countess Mexborough [aged 54]. He the son of George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke [aged 69] and Henrietta Vernon Countess Warwick and Brooke [aged 55].
In 1816 George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke [aged 69] died. His son Henry [aged 36] succeeded 3rd Earl Warwick, 3rd Earl Brooke Warwick Castle, 10th Baron Brooke of Beauchamps Court in Warwickshire.
On 22nd April 1838 [his former wife] Henrietta Vernon Countess Warwick and Brooke [aged 77] died.
[his daughter] Augusta Sophia Greville Countess Aylesford was born to George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke and Henrietta Vernon Countess Warwick and Brooke. She married 23rd April 1821 her fourth cousin once removed Heneage Finch 5th Earl Aylesford, son of Heneage Finch 4th Earl Aylesford and Louisa Thynne Countess Aylesford, and had issue.
[his son] Charles John Greville was born to George Greville 2nd Earl Warwick and Brooke and Henrietta Vernon Countess Warwick and Brooke.
