The True Chronicles of Jean le Bel offer one of the most vivid and immediate accounts of 14th-century Europe, written by a knight who lived through the events he describes, and experienced some of them first hand. He the son of Raymond Ivrea and Urracca "Reckless" Jiménez Queen Consort Aragon and Pamplona. They were third cousin once removed.

Around 1137 Ferdinand II King Leon was born to Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon [aged 31] and Berenguela Barcelona Queen Consort Castile and Leon [aged 21].

On 15th January 1149 [his mother] Berenguela Barcelona Queen Consort Castile and Leon [aged 33] died.

In 1151 [his brother] Sancho III King Castile [aged 17] and [his sister-in-law] Blanche Ramirez Queen Consort Castile [aged 17] were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Castile. She the daughter of García "Restorer" IV King Navarre and Marguerite Aigle Queen Consort Navarre. He the son of [his father] Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon [aged 45] and [his mother] Berenguela Barcelona Queen Consort Castile and Leon. They were fourth cousins.

In 1154 [his brother-in-law] Louis VII King of the Franks [aged 34] and [his sister] Constance of Castile Queen of the Franks [aged 14] were married in Orléans. She by marriage Queen of the Franks. Somewhat curiously they were more closely related than Louis and his first wife Eleanor of Aquitaine [aged 32] whose marriage had been annulled on account of consanguinity. The difference in their ages was 20 years. She the daughter of [his father] Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon [aged 48] and [his mother] Berenguela Barcelona Queen Consort Castile and Leon. He the son of Louis VI King of the Franks and Adelaide Savoy Queen Consort France. They were second cousins.

On 21st August 1157 [his father] Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon [aged 52] died. His son [his brother] Sancho [aged 23] succeeded III King Castile. His son Ferdinand [aged 20] succeeded II King Leon.

On 31st August 1158 [his brother] Sancho III King Castile [aged 24] died. His son [his nephew] Alfonso [aged 2] succeeded VIII King Castile.

On 13th November 1160 [his former brother-in-law] Louis VII King of the Franks [aged 40] and Adèle Queen of the Franks were married a month or so after his [his sister] second wife [deceased] had died in childbirth; Louis needed an heir. She by marriage Queen of the Franks. She the daughter of Theobald Blois II Count Champagne IV Count Blois and Matilda Carinthia Countess Champagne and Blois. He the son of Louis VI King of the Franks and Adelaide Savoy Queen Consort France. They were third cousin once removed. She a great granddaughter of King William "Conqueror" I of England.

Before 15th August 1171 Ferdinand II King Leon [aged 34] and Urraca Burgundy Queen Consort Leon [aged 23] were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Leon. She the daughter of Afonso "Conqueror Founder Great" I King Portugal [aged 62] and Malfada Savoy Queen Consort Portugal. He the son of Alfonso VII King Castile VII King Leon and Berenguela Barcelona Queen Consort Castile and Leon. They were half second cousins.

On 15th August 1171 [his son] Alfonso IX King Leon was born to Ferdinand II King Leon [aged 34] and [his wife] Urraca Burgundy Queen Consort Leon [aged 23]. Coefficient of inbreeding 2.00%. He married 1. 1191 his first cousin Theresa of Portugal Queen Consort Leon, daughter of Sancho "Populator" I King Portugal and Dulce Barcelona Queen Consort Portugal, and had issue 2. 1197 his first cousin once removed Berengaria Ivrea I Queen Castile, daughter of Alfonso VIII King Castile and Eleanor Plantagenet Queen Consort Castile, and had issue.

On 6th December 1185 [his father-in-law] Afonso "Conqueror Founder Great" I King Portugal [aged 76] died. His son [his brother-in-law] Sancho [aged 31] succeeded I King Portugal and reigned for twenty six years.

On 22nd January 1188 Ferdinand II King Leon [aged 51] died. His son Alfonso [aged 16] succeeded IX King Leon.

In 1211 [his former wife] Urraca Burgundy Queen Consort Leon [aged 63] died.
