Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses
Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

In 1410 Charles Valois Duke Orléans [aged 15] and [his sister] Bonne Armagnac Duchess Orléans [aged 10] were married. She by marriage Duchess Orléans. She the daughter of [his father] Bernard VII Count Armagnac [aged 47] and [his mother] Bonne Valois Countess Armagnac and Savoy [aged 45]. He the son of Louis Valois I Duke Orléans and Valentina Visconti Duchess of Orleans. They were second cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Henry III of England.
In 1414 John Valois I Duke Alençon was created I Duke Alençon. [his sister-in-law] Marie Montfort Duchess Alençon [aged 22] by marriage Duchess Alençon.
In 1416 [his daughter] Bonne Armagnac was born to John IV Count Armagnac [aged 19] and Blanche Montfort Countess Armagnac [aged 19]. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Henry III of England. Coefficient of inbreeding 2.34%.
On 12th June 1418 [his father] Bernard VII Count Armagnac [aged 55] died. His son John [aged 21] succeeded IV Count Armagnac. Blanche Montfort Countess Armagnac [aged 21] by marriage Countess Armagnac.
Before 1419 Blanche Montfort Countess Armagnac [aged 21] died.
On 10th May 1419 John IV Count Armagnac [aged 22] and Isabella Évreux Countess Armagnac [aged 24] were married. She by marriage Countess Armagnac. She the daughter of Charles III King Navarre [aged 58] and Eleanor of Castile Queen Consort Navarre [aged 56]. He the son of Bernard VII Count Armagnac and Bonne Valois Countess Armagnac and Savoy [aged 54]. They were second cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry III of England.
In 1420 [his son] Jean V Count Armagnac was born to John IV Count Armagnac [aged 23] and [his wife] Isabella Évreux Countess Armagnac [aged 25]. Coefficient of inbreeding 2.33%. He married 19th August 1479 his first cousin once removed Jeanne Foix, daughter of Gaston IV Count Foix and Eleanor Trastámara Queen Consort Navarre.
In 1420 [his daughter] Marie Armagnac Duchess Alençon was born to John IV Count Armagnac [aged 23] and [his wife] Isabella Évreux Countess Armagnac [aged 25]. Coefficient of inbreeding 2.33%. She married 1437 her second cousin John Valois II Duke Alençon, son of John Valois I Duke Alençon and Marie Montfort Duchess Alençon, and had issue.
Before 29th May 1421 John II King Aragon [aged 22] and Blanche Évreux Queen Consort Aragon [aged 33] were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Aragon. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] Charles III King Navarre [aged 60] and [his mother-in-law] Eleanor of Castile Queen Consort Navarre [aged 58]. He the son of Ferdinand I King Aragon and Eleanor of Alberquerque Queen Consort Aragon [aged 47]. They were first cousin once removed. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry III of England.
In 1423 [his daughter] Eléonore Armagnac was born to John IV Count Armagnac [aged 26] and [his wife] Isabella Évreux Countess Armagnac [aged 28]. Coefficient of inbreeding 2.33%.
In 1425 [his son] Charles Armagnac I Count Armagnac was born to John IV Count Armagnac [aged 28] and [his wife] Isabella Évreux Countess Armagnac [aged 30]. Coefficient of inbreeding 2.33%.
Around 1430 [his sister] Bonne Armagnac Duchess Orléans [aged 30] died.
In 1430 [his daughter] Isabelle Armagnac was born to John IV Count Armagnac [aged 33] and [his wife] Isabella Évreux Countess Armagnac [aged 35]. Coefficient of inbreeding 2.33%.
In 1435 [his mother] Bonne Valois Countess Armagnac and Savoy [aged 70] died.
In 1435 [his wife] Isabella Évreux Countess Armagnac [aged 40] died.
In 1437 [his son-in-law] John Valois II Duke Alençon [aged 27] and Marie Armagnac Duchess Alençon [aged 17] were married. She by marriage Duchess Alençon. She the daughter of John IV Count Armagnac [aged 40] and Isabella Évreux Countess Armagnac. He the son of John Valois I Duke Alençon and Marie Montfort Duchess Alençon [aged 45]. They were second cousins. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry III of England.

On 5th November 1450 John IV Count Armagnac [aged 54] died. His son Jean [aged 30] succeeded V Count Armagnac.

They were first cousins.
Amadeus "Red Count" Savoy VII Count Savoy and [his mother] Bonne Valois Countess Armagnac and Savoy were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] John Valois 1st Duke Berry and [his grandmother] Joanne Armagnac Duchess Berry. He the son of Amadeus "Green Count" Savoy VI Count Savoy and Bonne Bourbon Countess Savoy. They were fourth cousin twice removed.
