On 6th May 1760 Robert Hobart was born to George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire [aged 28] and Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire [aged 21] at Hampden House, Great Hampden.

In 1784 Robert Hobart [aged 23] was elected MP Portarlington which seat he held until 1790.

On 30th September 1785 [his brother-in-law] George Augustus North 3rd Earl Guildford [aged 28] and [his sister] Maria Frances Hobart Countess Guilford [aged 23] were married. She the daughter of [his father] George Hobart 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire [aged 54] and [his mother] Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire [aged 46]. He the son of Frederick North 2nd Earl Guildford [aged 53] and Anne Speke Countess Guilford [aged 45]. They were fifth cousin once removed.

In 1788 Robert Hobart [aged 27] was elected MP Bramber which seat he held until 1790. He sat concurrently in the Houses of Commons of Ireland and Great Britain.

In 1793 Robert Hobart [aged 32] was appointed Governor of Madras which office he held until 1798.

In 1793 [his daughter] Sarah Albinia Louisa Hobart was born to Robert Hobart 4th Earl Buckinghamshire [aged 32] and [his wife] Margaretta Bourke [aged 38]. She married 1814 Frederick John Robinson 1st Earl Ripon, son of Thomas Robinson 2nd Baron Grantham and Mary Jemima Yorke Baroness Grantham, and had issue.

On 3rd August 1793 [his uncle] John Hobart 2nd Earl Buckinghamshire [aged 69] died. His half brother [his father] George [aged 61] succeeded 3rd Earl Buckinghamshire, 3rd Baron Hobart, 7th Baronet Hobart of Intwood in Norfolk. [his mother] Albinia Bertie Countess Buckinghamshire [aged 54] by marriage Countess Buckinghamshire. Harriet Hobart Viscountess Belmore [aged 31] inherited Blickling Hall, Norfolk [Map].

On 23rd April 1794 [his sister] Maria Frances Hobart Countess Guilford [aged 32] died.

On 9th March 1796 Alan Hyde Gardner 2nd Baron Gardner [aged 26] and [his step-daughter] Maria Elizabeth Adderley Baroness Gardner [aged 20] were married at either Fort George, Chennai, or Fort George, West Indies.

On 7th August 1796 [his wife] Margaretta Bourke [aged 41] died. She was buried at St Mary's Church, Madras.

The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

His nephew George [aged 26] succeeded 5th Earl Buckinghamshire, 5th Baron Hobart, 9th Baronet Hobart of Intwood in Norfolk. George Hobart-Hampden 5th Earl of Buckinghamshire: On 1st May 1789 he was born to George Vere Hobart. On 1st February 1849 George Hobart-Hampden 5th Earl of Buckinghamshire died. His brother Augustus succeeded 6th Earl Buckinghamshire, 6th Baron Hobart, 10th Baronet Hobart of Intwood in Norfolk.

In October 1851 [his former wife] Eleanor Agnes Eden Countess Buckinghamshire [aged 74] died.
