On 19th April 1452 Frederick IV King Naples was born to Ferdinand I King Naples [aged 28] and Isabella Clermont Queen Consort Naples [aged 28].
On 27th June 1458 [his grandfather] Alfonso V King Aragon [aged 62] died. His son [his father] Ferdinand [aged 35] succeeded I King Naples. [his mother] Isabella Clermont Queen Consort Naples [aged 34] by marriage Queen Consort Naples. His brother John [aged 59] succeeded II King Aragon.
On 30th March 1465 [his mother] Isabella Clermont Queen Consort Naples [aged 41] died.
On 10th October 1465 [his brother] Alfonso II King Naples [aged 16] and [his sister-in-law] Ippolita Maria Sforza [aged 19] were married at Milan. She the daughter of Francesco Sforza I Duke Milan [aged 64] and Bianca Maria Visconti [aged 40]. He the son of [his father] Ferdinand I King Naples [aged 42] and [his mother] Isabella Clermont Queen Consort Naples.
On 14th September 1476 [his father] Ferdinand I King Naples [aged 53] and [his step-mother] Joanna of Aragon Queen Consort Naples [aged 22] were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Naples. The difference in their ages was 30 years. She the daughter of John II King Aragon [aged 78] and Juana Enríquez Queen Consort Aragon. He the illegitmate son of [his grandfather] Alfonso V King Aragon and [his grandmother] Giralda Carlino. They were first cousins.
On 11th September 1478 Frederick IV King Naples [aged 26] and Anne of Savoy [aged 23] were married. She the daughter of Amadeus "Happy" Savoy IX Duke Savoy and Yolande Valois Duchess Savoy [deceased]. He the son of Ferdinand I King Naples [aged 55] and Isabella Clermont Queen Consort Naples. They were fourth cousins.
Around 1480 [his daughter] Charlotte of Naples was born to Frederick IV King Naples [aged 27] and [his wife] Anne of Savoy [aged 24]. She married 10th June 1500 Guy XVI Count de Laval.
In February 1480 [his wife] Anne of Savoy [aged 24] died.
On On 28th November 1487 Frederick IV King Naples [aged 35] and Isabella del Balzo Queen Consort of Naples [aged 22] were married. He the son of Ferdinand I King Naples [aged 64] and Isabella Clermont Queen Consort Naples. They were first cousin once removed.
This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

On 18th December 1495 [his brother] Alfonso II King Naples [aged 47] died. His son [his nephew] Ferdinand [aged 26] succeeded II King Naples. [his half-sister] Joanna Trastámara Queen Consort Naples [aged 16] by marriage Queen Consort Naples.
In October 1496 [his nephew] Ferdinand II King Naples [aged 27] died. His uncle Frederick [aged 44] succeeded IV King Naples.
On 10th June 1500 [his son-in-law] Guy XVI Count de Laval [aged 23] and Charlotte of Naples [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of Frederick IV King Naples [aged 48] and Anne of Savoy.
On 9th November 1504 Frederick IV King Naples [aged 52] died.
In 1533 [his former wife] Isabella del Balzo Queen Consort of Naples [aged 67] died.
