On 24th August 1358 John I King Castile was born to Henry "Fratricide" II King Castile [aged 24] and Juana Manuel Queen of Castile [aged 19].
On 3rd April 1367 the forces of [his uncle] Peter "Cruel" I King Castile [aged 32] commanded by Edward "Black Prince" [aged 36] defeated the army of [his father] Henry "Fratricide" II King Castile [aged 33] at the Battle of Nájera at Nájera [Map]. The English forces included John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster [aged 27], William Scrope, Peter Courtenay [aged 21], John Devereux 1st Baron Devereux [aged 30], John Savile of Shelley and Golcar [aged 42], Bernard Brocas [aged 37] and Thomas Banastre [aged 33].
The forces of Henry "Fratricide" II King Castile included Bertrand Geusclin [aged 47]. The battle achieved little since Bertrand Geusclin escaped.
John Ferrers 4th Baron Ferrers of Chartley [aged 36] was killed. His son Robert [aged 9] succeeded 5th Baron Ferrers of Chartley. Margaret Despencer Baroness Ferrers of Chartley by marriage Baroness Ferrers of Chartley.
Edward "Black Prince" thereafter returned home, taking Peter's daughters Constance [aged 13] and Isabella [aged 12] as hostages to ensure Peter would pay the money owed to Edward. Constance married John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster, Isabella married Edmund of Langley 1st Duke of York [aged 25].
On 23rd March 1369 [his uncle] Peter "Cruel" I King Castile [aged 34] was murdered by his half-brother [his father] Henry "Fratricide" II King Castile [aged 35] outside the wall of the castle of Montiel, La Mancha. His half brother Henry succeeded II King Castile.
In 1375 [his brother-in-law] Charles III King Navarre [aged 14] and [his sister] Eleanor of Castile Queen Consort Navarre [aged 11] were married. She the daughter of [his father] Henry "Fratricide" II King Castile [aged 40] and [his mother] Juana Manuel Queen of Castile [aged 36]. On 4th October 1379 [his son] Henry III King Castile was born to John I King Castile [aged 21] and [his wife] Eleanor Barcelona Queen Consort Castile [aged 21] at Burgos [Map]. He married before 17th September 1388 his half second cousin Catherine of Lancaster Queen Consort Castile, daughter of John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster and Constance of Castile Duchess of Lancaster, and had issue.
On 2nd February 1380 [his brother-in-law] King John I of Aragon [aged 29] and Yolande of Bar Queen Consort Aragon [aged 15] were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Aragon. She the daughter of Robert of Bar 1st Duke of Bar [aged 35] and Marie Valois Duchess Bar [aged 35]. He the son of [his father-in-law] Peter IV King Aragon [aged 60] and Eleanor of Sicily Queen Consort Aragon. They were third cousin once removed. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Edward I of England.
On 27th November 1380 [his son] Ferdinand I King Aragon was born to John I King Castile [aged 22] and [his wife] Eleanor Barcelona Queen Consort Castile [aged 22]. He married 1394 his first cousin once removed Eleanor of Alberquerque Queen Consort Aragon, daughter of Sancho Alfonso Ivrea and Beatrice Burgundy, and had issue.
On 27th March 1381 [his mother] Juana Manuel Queen of Castile [aged 42] died.
On 13th September 1382 [his wife] Eleanor Barcelona Queen Consort Castile [aged 24] died.
The Deeds of the Dukes of Normandy
The Gesta Normannorum Ducum [The Deeds of the Dukes of Normandy] is a landmark medieval chronicle tracing the rise and fall of the Norman dynasty from its early roots through the pivotal events surrounding the Norman Conquest of England. Today this classic work remains a foundational source for understanding Norman identity, medieval statesmanship, and the historical forces that reshaped England and Western Europe between 800AD and 1100AD.

He the son of John I King Castile [aged 30] and Eleanor Barcelona Queen Consort Castile. They were half second cousins. She a granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
On 9th October 1390 John I King Castile [aged 32] died in a riding accident when he fell from his horse while riding in a fantasia, a traditional display of horsemanship with light horsemen known as farfanes mounted and equipped in the Arab style.. His son Henry [aged 11] succeeded III King Castile.
